Please don't call your baby Humphrey

Pinkfinkle · 30/06/2019 16:39

Nothing because I would not use that name Grin.

LauderSyme · 30/06/2019 15:38

Humph. If I loved them I would probably nickname them Humfour to indicate how much they mean to me!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 30/06/2019 15:19

Humpty dumpty was a cannon.

Sophronia · 29/06/2019 22:41

Phrey/Free

untoldstories · 29/06/2019 22:36

I wouldn't shorten it to anything.
I wouldn't have it, it's horrible.

MapleDragon · 29/06/2019 22:36

Bogart

fairybeagle · 29/06/2019 22:32

I love this name. Probably Humpf for short

Cbeebiesrehab · 29/06/2019 22:27

My cat is called Humphrey and unfortunately we call him HumpyConfused

lollipopguild · 29/06/2019 22:09

Biscuitsneeded · 29/06/2019 22:07

Surely Humpty Dumpty was Richard III - the HUMP bit being meaningful?

SleepingStandingUp · 29/06/2019 22:04

@Divgirl2 that was Alice...

Phey?
Hue?

lollipopguild · 29/06/2019 22:01

Ginger1982 · 29/06/2019 22:00

Our dog was called Humphrey! He was Humph, Humph - a -lumph, Humpy etc etc!

TixieLix · 29/06/2019 21:56

You younger MNers associate the name with an elephant book character. Us older posters remember the name this way Grin

raspberrycordial · 29/06/2019 21:56

Definitely humpers

IncrediblySadToo · 29/06/2019 21:55

I would need to find an acceptable shortening as if never saddle a baby with that name, but ‘H’ if I had to I suppose, or Humph which would very quickly become Hump

It I agree with a pp he’ll end up being called ‘poor bairn’ (Or regional equivalent)

CroissantwithCheese · 29/06/2019 21:53

Shock was Humphrey the king??
...all the king’s horses and all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humphrey together again.

He MUST have been the king. Why would they be bothered by an egg falling off a wall otherwise?

(Totally misses point of post)

SophyStantonLacy · 29/06/2019 21:52

I LOVE Humphrey. I have a cousin for whom it is sometimes shortened to Humph or H but mostly it's Humphrey.

CroissantwithCheese · 29/06/2019 21:50

I imagine that Humpty Dumpty’s real name was Humphrey.

Humphrey Dumpty has quite a regal ring to it

Quintella · 29/06/2019 21:45

It needs shortening to H and then changed to a different name completely.

Pippilongstrumof · 29/06/2019 21:42

Why does it need shortening?

MikeUniformMike · 29/06/2019 19:27

Humph

SkydivingKittyCat · 29/06/2019 19:18

I know a Humphrey. He gets shortened to Humph, Hump or Humperdinck.

he's a Pug
