Never lived in Wales but visit regularly, I know one Tudor, one Tudur.

RonaldMcDonald · 02/07/2019 13:36

Windsor for a girl

Snowy81 · 02/07/2019 13:33

I’ve lived in Wales my entire life, I’ve taught for many many years, and not once have I ever come across a Tudor.

TatianaLarina · 30/06/2019 19:28

Love. 👍🏼

TeapotofTerror · 30/06/2019 17:38

I quite like Tudor, sounds better in a welsh accent though

Bookworm4 · 30/06/2019 17:18

Poor child lumbered with a god awful name.

AmyMaria2 · 30/06/2019 17:17

It's awful,
Sorry

toottootchuggachugga · 30/06/2019 16:51

Classic Welsh name. We have an older relative called Tudor. There's a bit of an accent trap though-a lot of people (esp in SE) will pronounce it Chew-da, which I don't like so much.

sincethereis · 30/06/2019 16:43

Love it, I used it Smile

nsldriver · 30/06/2019 16:42

Tudor it is....I've persuaded DH that it's better than his preferred name.

I think it’s great.
Thank god it’s not another boring thread with boring baby names saying ‘what do you prefer: Leo, Oliver or Jack’ 🙄

AlliKaneErikson · 30/06/2019 00:13

I know a couple of lovely Tudors (SEWales here, too).

HettyStThomas · 29/06/2019 16:19

A totally normal name here in SE Wales. I know a few of all ages. Go for it.

MikeUniformMike · 29/06/2019 16:16

But this is MN Emrys. It's not in the current list of regularly trotted out names. Is Tudor really any worse than the awful Theodore. No, just not as overused.

I like the name and know a few nice Tudors and Tudurs.

EmrysAtticus · 29/06/2019 10:44

Can people please realise that this is a normal name in Wales. Fair enough it is not to your taste but there is no need to be so offensive about it!

madcatladyforever · 29/06/2019 10:41

Tudor......why? Sorry but there seems to be a ridiculous name competition these days. Do you ever think of your poor kids.

Drum2018 · 29/06/2019 09:57

Awful name, as are some of the other suggestions given Shock

JustTheCrowsAndTheBeef · 29/06/2019 09:47

He'll be bullied when he learns about Tudors at school

And if the name were Stuart / Stewart?

AppleKatie · 29/06/2019 09:41

I know a teenage one. As far as I know he doesn’t get any stick for it. It’s not to my taste particularly but it isn’t awful

Frith2013 · 29/06/2019 09:37

Quite common round here. Different pronunciation in Wales.

Tudur Owen has a comedy show on radio 4 about his name that you could listen to on BBC sounds.

Veterinari · 29/06/2019 07:56

They're goung to call him Turd-or in school

They really aren’t Hmm
The response on mumsnet to any name of Celtic origin is that it’s awful.

The biggest issue here is that it doesn’t matter what we think, your DH hates it - you need to find another name

BarryBarryTaylor · 29/06/2019 07:36

I actually like it. I can see the appeal, it isn’t common and it isn’t a made up word either.

I do really like the suggestions of Torben though.

Pinkfinkle · 29/06/2019 04:47

Agreed with your DH, it’s not great.

NorksofPlenty · 28/06/2019 23:50

I used to know a Tudor, always thought it was a cool name

PolkadotLollipop · 28/06/2019 23:40

Another Welshie here but I’m not keen on the name, I think because I associate it with the knobbish guy who used to hang around outside my high school selling drugs to the lads and trying sleep with the girls.
