Absolutely hate my 1.5 year olds name

Just that really. Absolutely hate the name we chose for her. We've called her a nickname since she was born (it sounds a bit like "baby" but it's not exactly that) and it's stuck 😳 she responds to that nickname and has absolutely no idea what her real name is.

Sometimes our family do call her by her real name and it makes my skin crawl I hate it so much.

What am I gonna do 😳

What name would suit her?

Ilovemylabrador · 26/06/2019 19:24

What’s her middle name

thumperumpa · 26/06/2019 19:21

Sorry everyone been so busy today! She's called Polly. I absolutely loved the name whilst pregnant and then suddenly just couldn't stand it a couple of weeks after she was born, but I assumed it would grow on me Blush

Is it Barbara and you call her Baba?

skybluee · 26/06/2019 18:11

Is she called Bibi?

HappyLoneParentDay · 26/06/2019 17:48

@thesungoesdownthestarscomeup Name please...

How bloody rude Hmm Who the hell do you think you are!?!

Fullmoons · 26/06/2019 17:36

At 1.5 years it's too late to change imo. Wait until she's old enough to decide for herself. She'll appreciate being able to have a say.

Lweji · 26/06/2019 17:30

Keep using the nickname or change her name.
She might like it, though, so, if wait until she's older to make any changes.

NeverPutAWetFootInABirkenstock · 26/06/2019 17:26

Can you think of a name that sounds like it could be the origin of the nickname that you like? Then you could keep using the nickname but she'd have something else to move onto when she gets older.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/06/2019 17:20

It doesn't matter what the name is.
The OP hates it, that's all that counts.

londonloves · 26/06/2019 17:15

These posts are so boring when the OP won't share the name

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/06/2019 17:15

Tbh i think it’s too late to change and saddle your child with deed poll papers for life. What’s the name, is it workable at all?

Spinderellacutituponetime · 26/06/2019 17:11

I think it’s important we know the name...for our own sanity at least! 😂

Bluerussian · 26/06/2019 17:11

Why did you choose the name in the first place? You must have liked it then.

Do please tell us the name - Gaby is short for Gabrielle or Gabriella and a bit like 'baby', is either of those her name?

Mabel (Maby)?

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 17:07

It’s only been a few hours maybe she posted on a lunch break- mumsnet is savage

bellalou1234 · 26/06/2019 17:05

.

buttertoasty · 26/06/2019 17:04

OP this thread is pointless unless you tell us what it is.

MollyHuaCha · 26/06/2019 17:02

It could be a perfectly lovely name, it's just that you don't know anyone else with it?

BarkandCheese · 26/06/2019 17:00

It doesn’t really matter what the name is, even if everyone on here thinks it’s lovely if the OP has reached a point where it makes her skin crawl a bunch of internet randoms aren’t going to suddenly make her like it.

The best course of action is going to be to change it before she gets much older. There will be a few raised eyebrows from family I expect, but they’ll get over it.

TrixieFranklin · 26/06/2019 16:54

What made you choose it in the first place?

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 16:50

People saying ‘why did you give it to her then’ are being somewhat unhelpful / cruel.

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 16:48

@Theworldcouldbemymollusc naughty ! Grin

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 16:47

I’m not sure changing it formally is a good idea. Because she’s over 1 it would be via deedpoll & she would always have to fill in the ‘formerly known as’ section on all official forms passports etc.

Could you use her middle name?

beanaseireann · 26/06/2019 16:44

Change it if she doesn't recognise it. Or use her middle banned if you prefer it.
I'd love to know what it is.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 26/06/2019 16:43

Tell us the name? Its probably not horrible at all and anyway it can’t be as bad as Pancake OP.
