Romy Jane or Ivy Jane?

Romy is my choice and Ivy DH's. Jane is a middle name we are def going to have as it is the name of a lovely friend of ours who passed last year. FYI we already have a Callum.

Nobody we speak to finds fault with Ivy but I've had a few "Repeat that, sorry?" 's when I mention Romy. And one "Sounds chavvy". I never thought that but can't stop thinking about it. It always sounded bohemian and lovely to me.

Thoughts?

Romy doesn’t seem like a proper name. Is that why folk are “???”

I never know whether it’s Rom-ee or Roam-y, looking at it...

Fatkins · 25/06/2019 22:20

I'm not keen on Romy or Ivy tbh...

Ivy goes better with Callum though.

Pinkmouse6 · 25/06/2019 11:52

My DD is Ivy. It’s a great name. It wasn’t popular at all when she was born but it’s becoming more common now which is annoying for me! Still love it though and it suits her very well.

Romy is nice too.

Sophronia · 25/06/2019 11:46

I’m not keen on either. I agree that something else would go better with Callum.

TotallyBamboozled · 24/06/2019 21:52

Much prefer Ivy and think it goes better with Callum

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 21:13

@DeReynolds poison ivy isn’t a character (the character was named after poison ivy) it’s a plant that makes an oil that gives you a nasty rash & blisters....oh & it can kill you!

I do love the name Ivy - but I’m surprised you find the poison ivy association a positive one!

icecreamsundae32 · 24/06/2019 20:55

Think Ivy Jane goes better
And Callum & Ivy sounds good!

DeReynolds · 24/06/2019 20:21

@TatianaLarina I have an Ivy who's named after the character poison Ivy. It made me chuckle that you feel the association is a negative one Grin.

OP, I like both names (no shock on liking Ivy), Romy is the singer in my favourite band and she is an amazing woman.

Bookworm4 · 24/06/2019 20:02

Callum is traditional Scottish name, neither Ivy or Romy go with it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/06/2019 19:59

Romy Jane

redvelvet6 · 24/06/2019 19:57

Romy Jane

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:55

Could you have 2 middle names e.g Romy Jane Ivy?

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:54

I know 2 Romys. I teach one (about 15) and the other is friends with my son, so about 18.

I quite like it but also like Ivy.

MingeOnFire · 24/06/2019 19:51

Ivy Jane.

I dislike Romy a lot, and have a feeling it will become quite popular over next few years

mamaoffourdc · 24/06/2019 17:39

I love both names however ivy Jane rolls better together than than romy Jane x

VeryImportantTests · 24/06/2019 17:32

Jane and Janie are great. Do without the others or make them middle names.

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/06/2019 17:24

Ivy Jane is now a fundy name. Romy Jane for me.

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2019 17:22

Romy Jane.

Butterfly005 · 24/06/2019 17:12

Romy is cute!

Shadow1234 · 24/06/2019 17:04

Romy Jane
Not keen on Ivy

sleepcrazy · 24/06/2019 16:57

Love the name Romy. It’s the short form of Rosemarie made famous by German actress Romy Schneider.

I don’t find it at all chav (such a horrible word) it’s just not a common British name yet. It is becoming an increasingly popular choice in France. Julia Restoin Roitfeld has a Romy.

Ivy is nice although lacks any sparkle and it is becoming very common now.

Cornishmum00 · 24/06/2019 16:32

Ivy is very overused, id go with Romy

kenandbarbie · 24/06/2019 16:32

Ivy, Romy is a bit more trendy therefor could be accused of being chavvy.

Gooseysgirl · 24/06/2019 16:30

I love Ivy Jane (Harry Kane's older daughter is Ivy Jane)

averythinline · 24/06/2019 16:13

not keen on Romy - could you have the orginal Rosemary/Rosemarie and just use Romy as a nn- for some illogical reason it looks incomplete...

I like Ivy better esp with Jane
