Thoughts on the name Romy

After whittling down from a short list of 4 (also posted) I think I’ve found my baby name. It’s a little bit quirky and don’t think we’ll be coming across many others but it isn’t too unusual/strange.

Keen to to do a test run and hear people’s thoughts - both good and bad - to push me into making my final decision.

The name is Romy (pronounced Ro-me not Rom-e)

There is no need to suggest Romilly as an alternative as it doesn’t work for us

It's a traditional diminutive of Rosemary.

Op I have always loved this name but when we had our dd my dp wasn't keen :(

From me it stemmed from watching Romy and Michelle as a teen and i decided that it was going to be my daughters name!

Go for it. You will never ever please everyone. And you don't have to.

I think its a lovely, unique name and has a timeless quality.

I remember though, there will always be some people that dislike a name, no matter what the name is. You can’t please everyone, it’s your baby, as long as you like the name that’s all that matters.

My DB is friends with a Romy and she's one of the sweetest people I've ever met, so from association alone that would make the name a big 'yes' from me.

Why do you care what other people think? It will probably put you off the name of you get negative responses.

Would have been the name I chose if this one was a girl, so I love it! For the reasons you have mentioned.
