James as a girls name?

Hi all,

I met a little girl called James the other day, at first I thought it was weird but now I’ve got to know her it’s really cute and suits her. I’ve heard of a few other girls names James and I was wondering what everyone thought of it as a girls name?

Jamie imo is a Scottish male name yes i know it is used for girls but I am not keen.

Jaime is a girls name.

Actually Jaime is a Spanish and Portugese boys' name. Jamie is more normally a girls' name.

I've never recovered from someone on here pointing out that the reason girls are called boys' names and not the other way around is that being a boy is a promotion and being a girl is a demotion. That's the reason I wouldn't do it.

Jaime is a girls name. Tbh I don't see the issue with making a name unisex but I do agree that being known as "James, but she's a girl" would be exhausting for any child.

I like James and also Michael as names for girls - there is a character my partner feels is a strong female in Star Trek (new one) called Michael. I don’t like either of those names for a boy though.

There is a celeb with a dd called james I think it is silly because it is a boys name Jamie for a girl is no better imo

Cute, lovely, traditional and strong on a boy. Idiotic on a girl. She would constantly be being put on the wrong lists and having to explain herself.

Male and female Lindsay/Lindsey is quite common here in Scotland, but James for a girl sounds odd. How about Dave?
