He’s 8 months and recognising his name. I really regret our choice.
I always really loved the name, for years. But it’s recently become so popular. I’m hugely regretting it. Me and OH couldn’t agree on anything else either!

My name is Caroline and i was born in the 60s ,named after my cousin apparently. However my Mum became quite annoyed at being asked if I was named after Caroline Kennedy!.Whatever name you pick somehow annoyingly if you like it, stands to reason others will as well!.Even if you changed it ,what if they had another baby with that name!.Remember reading about a family whose children were named George,Charlotte and Louis in that order!.I really wouldnt change it TBH.I had a best friend called Caroline at school ,and have two chums I walk the dog with called Caroline too!.No problem for me ,in fact I like it!

It's a lovely name.

But I'm sure I saw on MN once that name regret is closely linked to PND as you said so maybe you need to see your GP or HV Thanks

Wifeynomore · 19/06/2019 15:05

Why are earth would you change a name you like just because other people like it too?

This fad of 'oh my god, i can't have a name that lots of people like and have given to their children' I just find utterly bonkers..

Its like everyone wants a name for their child that everyone will like but which no-one else has chosen for their child. Just think about that.....

FirstBabyOnTheWay · 19/06/2019 15:02

I LOVE the name Archie... !!!!

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 19/06/2019 15:00

Remember the Royals copied you!!

SpongeCake23 · 19/06/2019 14:58

@rubbertreeplant it’s William. I really like his middle name but my OH isn’t on board with changing Archie or calling him his middle name.
I do like the name Archie, I always have, I’m just annoyed that it’s become so common and that the Royals have used it too!

Fullmoons · 19/06/2019 14:54

If you prefer his middle name, you could use both names and eventually only use the middle name.

RubberTreePlant · 19/06/2019 14:44

What's his middle name? Could you switch to calling him both, double barrel style, and then drop the 'Archie' bit a few months down the line?

SpongeCake23 · 19/06/2019 14:35

It’s Archie if you hadn’t guessed by the previous reply!

We chose it because I’ve always liked it since watching Monarch of the Glen on a Sunday as a child, it’s also of Scottish origin and both me and my OH have Scottish roots.

It was also my OH’s great uncle’s name (who was Scottish).

However even Harry and Meghan have used it! Everyone said it’s a good thing and to feel pleased he shares his name with a ‘sort of’ prince.

I’ve worked in schools for many years and only heard one or two Archies (seriously) however recently it’s got so much more popular and I feel there’s a negative association with it.

@Fullmoons But he knows his name now and everyone calls him that! I feel it’s too late to use his middle name.

@IggyAce Yes, discussed with him. He doesn’t see the issue and still likes the name. Also says he just sees him as an Archie now. I suffer with PND and PNA. So I don’t know if that has something to do with it.

Have you discussed your worries with your OH?
What’s the name?

Fullmoons · 19/06/2019 14:20

Can you find a suitable nickname? Or use his middle name?
