Maelie opinions

We love the name Maelie (May-lee). We feel it's pretty and unique and are fully aware she will need to spell out her name.

We don't usually share our names with anyone so I would like honest opinions on here before we finally settle. I don't want to regret it but we have loved this name for over a decade and we can't seem to settle on anything else!! This is our first girl after two boys. Thank you Smile

I used to know someone with a similar name (but hyphenated: Mae-lee). She was half Chinese. I always thought it was a lovely, feminine name.

Thank you everyone. Yes we like it because it's French - other options were Maylie and Mailea but we liked the French version. Yes we do have French relatives.

Wouldn’t work up here in Scotland, everyone would be thinking of Mealie puddings.

NameChange30 · 15/06/2019 09:44

It's French. Are there any connections to France or French-speaking countries in the family?

Wildorchidz · 15/06/2019 09:44

It’s a French name of Breton origin. It’s a nice name.

Never heard it before but I really like it! Really sweet

Sexnotgender · 15/06/2019 09:42

It makes me think of Mealie

I knew it reminded me of something and I couldn’t think what!

Firsttimemama2017 · 15/06/2019 09:42

I love it! Really cute.

Although she might spend some time correcting people who think her name is Hayley!

AloneLonelyLoner · 15/06/2019 09:41

It makes me think of Mealie (worm!). So anyone who has heard of Mealie worms may think they've misheard the name. And Mealie worms are disgusting. Sorry. I couldn't do it because of that alone.

TheInvisibleMrsCrane · 15/06/2019 09:36

Sorry I really don’t like it

Sexnotgender · 15/06/2019 09:35

Not a fan.

RubyBluee · 15/06/2019 09:34

I don’t like it

KnitterOfSocks · 15/06/2019 09:28

I would imagine she will spend a lot of time saying "no, not Amelia/Amelie". I like the sound of it though.

NotSoThinLizzy · 15/06/2019 09:28

Oh that's different I like it 😊 not too out there but not boring either.
