All names from my generation and names that will seem dated now, but all names I love!
May not be brave enough to use myself but would love to see in use again!
Also how old is the youngest person you know with each name? (just out of interest)

Lisa
Caroline
Sarah
Joanna
Kerry
Nicola
Karen
Jenny
Claire
Victoria

I don't these are "Nana names" quite yet!

I was born in the mid 80s and these are the names of people I was at school with. Who are now mothers to young children.

I know a two-year-old Claire and when her name was announced I did think "ooh you don't get many baby Claire's now!"

Espain · 14/06/2019 15:04

Victoria and Sarah are definitely not dated OP!

Lisa- early 50s
Caroline- mid 50s
Sarah- i know of x3 21 year old Sarahs through my DC
Joanna- I don’t know any
Kerry- youngest I know is 22
Nicola- late 40s
Karen- mid 50s
Jenny- youngest I know is 17
Claire- 35
Victoria- youngest i know is 13

Krisskrosskiss · 14/06/2019 14:50

But Karen is my favourite out of that list!

Krisskrosskiss · 14/06/2019 14:49

I think they are all nice enough names, the issue is they sound a bit boring to me now because they are the names everyone had at school! I'm sure they will all make a comeback when people have not been using them for a while and they seem interesting and unique again.

EarClipper · 14/06/2019 13:55

Oh I think Pamela is gorgeous. And it's got a literary heritage too. But yeah, Pam, is a bit....Gavin and Stacey.

Matleavemadam · 14/06/2019 13:48

Oops just realized you were just asking about your specific list, thought you wanted suggestions

Matleavemadam · 14/06/2019 13:47

I have always thought the name Pamela is lovely, it just has a nice sound. I don't know of any under the age of 40. But have never used it as I don't like Pam and I don't know any Pamela's that aren't Pam!
Sorry, no offence to any Pams on here Grin

Greyhoundsaregreyt · 14/06/2019 09:51

All perfectly normal names.

Pinkmouse6 · 14/06/2019 09:49

I know someone who has a one year old called Sarah. I was surprised when she used it, it seems so 80s/90s to me. Aside from that, the youngest Sarah I know is 28.

Lisa- 28 again, I went to school with her
Caroline- same as above but even then, it was quite an old fashioned name. She was the only one in the school.
Joanna -30, she works with my DP
Kerry-36, works with my DP
Nicola- Christ, mid thirties at least.
Karen- 48
Jenny- 30, went to school with her
Claire - 40
Victoria- 30

Victoria is the only one I don’t mind but I hate Vicky.

Kokeshi123 · 14/06/2019 00:55

Lolling at "nana" names--are most grandmas about 38 years old where you live?

Chocolatecake12 · 13/06/2019 22:54

My first name and middle name are on that list and have had lovely comments on this thread so thank you!
I’m a 70’s child - I don’t think I those names are nana names at all

benevolentassassin · 13/06/2019 22:30

Lisa is such a pretty name that only stopped sounding so pretty because it was popular so became normal. I’d love to see it come back.

Joanna is a favourite of mine. I don’t like Joanne at all though - it has to be Joanna.

Claire is a classy, simple name that lost that feel because of how popular it became. I’d like to see it come back a little now as well.

AhhhHereItGoes · 13/06/2019 21:39

Lisa - youngest 25
Caroline - youngest early 40s
Sarah - youngest in her teens ... but I don't see Sarah as dated personally.
Joanna - don't think I know one.
Kerry - late 20s
Nicola - early 30s
Karen - early 40s
Jenny - late 20s
Claire - late 20s is the youngest
Victoria - early 20s.

Elderflower14 · 13/06/2019 20:52

A lot of them are Joyce Grenfell Nursery names.... ☺

mogtheexcellent · 13/06/2019 20:50

I love claire, karen and jenny. The first two were on my list and there's a jenny in my daughters class.

Hate sarah and caroline but they were the school bullies.

Wiseoldnannyplum · 13/06/2019 20:47

Most of those are lovely classic names!
There's a Lisa, Sarah, Joanna, Nicola, Jenny and a Claire in my 5 year old daughters class!!
And lots of slight variations too - Clara, Sara, Johanna, Nicole

ForTheSakeOfTheFox · 13/06/2019 18:18

The youngest people I know with each name:
Caroline - early/mid 40s
Sarah, Joanna, Nicola, Karen, Claire - mid 30s
Jenny - 30
Lisa - late 20s
Victoria - 3

The only Kerry I know is a man, who I would guess is now in his 50s.

I'm not keen on Joanna, Karen, Lisa, or Victoria (mainly because I don't like either Vicky or Tori as shortenings), but really like Caroline. I don't think any of the names you listed are unusuable, even though they're not currently fashionable.

Wouldn't class any of them as 'Nana names' either! Grin

OldAndWornOut · 13/06/2019 18:15

They'll all come rolling round into fashion at some point.
I don't understand how names are 'in' or 'out' or 'so last year'.

lonelyonee · 13/06/2019 18:11

I really old Victoria for a girl. Think little Vicky is quite cute 🥰 Smile

Allthemistakesmade · 13/06/2019 18:05

Nana names???? You've got your generations mixed up there!

DasMumBoot · 13/06/2019 18:00

I’m a Sarah (b.1960) And I’m a granny.

Caroline (65)
Jenny (33)
Joanna (33)
Karen (40)
(Claire 32)
Nicola (41)
Victoria (32)

EarClipper · 13/06/2019 17:08

Blimey - born late 60s and nearly fell off my chair at "Nana names"

Grin Grin

Cookit · 13/06/2019 17:06

Ahaha, Nana names?? It’s people called Sarah and Nicola that are currently the mothers of young children!!

People often cite the 100 year rule (for instance why Ivy, Elsie, Arthur etc are popular now) in which case we have a good 50 years to go. I don’t think this would apply for Sarah and other classic names however which are likely to come back more quickly.
