Which would you choose ?

I think they're both really good names. I would choose Maximilian for it's coolness and love short forms Max or Maxim. However I think Martin is a very usable name, just less edgy.

Chocmallows · 13/06/2019 00:22

Maxim

tdam · 13/06/2019 00:20

Definitely Maximilian!

I love Martin Sheen.
The Martins I know are not old enough to hang out with Barbaras , Margarets and Brians, they are Martin Sheen age.

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 21:10

Not being silly at all. I'm sure your Martin was a lovely man. Flowers

and I've just thought of Martin Sheen. I amend my previous comment about all Martins being bores. Nothing boring about Mr Sheen!

PetrichorRain · 12/06/2019 21:06

I know, I’m just not really over his death, just being silly really, but it choked me up!

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 21:04

it's just people's perceptions of a name. it's no reflection on your beloved relative. My name has been described as a 'bitchy girl's name' before. Which is a scandalous thing to say! I'm only a bitch 15% of the time Wink

PetrichorRain · 12/06/2019 20:56

This thread is making me feel sad for my deceased relative now :( He wasn’t dowdy or boring or a little old man.

PetrichorRain · 12/06/2019 20:54

Martin is my DS’s middle name - after a deceased relative though. I don’t particularly like it as a name tbh! Max is nicer but not Maximilian.

Bloodylegoeverywhere · 12/06/2019 20:52

Definitely Maximilian on the birth certificate and then Max for short, much easier to write his name when hes at school Hmm

BillywigSting · 12/06/2019 20:40

I'm not a fan of Martin but I do like Martain the French prononciation

Another vote for Maximilian with Max as a nn. Martin is boring.

Max is lovely and Martin sounds like a middle aged man sorry !

BarryBarryTaylor · 12/06/2019 18:41

This is tough, Max’s (in all the variations) are ten a penny near me, and Martin is my FIL who I love so when I think of the name I smile...however he is a 50something grumpy manc Grin

ritzbiscuits · 12/06/2019 18:29

Bloody hell, not Martin!

I really like Maximilian, Max for short. I like Maxim suggested above too.

TatianaLarina · 12/06/2019 18:10

Maximilian - nn Max.

Martin is friends with Alan, Malcolm, Barbara, Margaret and Brian.

Also - I hate Martin Amis.

blushmelikeyou · 12/06/2019 18:10

Martin reminds me of a little old man.

Fulltimemummy85 · 12/06/2019 18:07

I know a child called Martin, it sounds strange when I hear his name. Max any day

tiramisu1 · 12/06/2019 16:56

Martin feels refreshing and interesting!

Max is overused and trendy and will soon sound dated.

BlueMerchant · 12/06/2019 16:21

Just Max.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2019 16:20

Martin. Maximilian is awful

AuntieStella · 12/06/2019 16:14

Maximilian - I see a dashing hero from the Golden Age of film

Martin - I've just been watching Classic Corrie and it's just nit doing it for me right now
