Marnie is so horrible!

Mabel goes best with Edith.

Edie and Bel

Firsttimemama2017 · 12/06/2019 14:26

Marianne is the best of your list.

Don't like Vivienne and Mabel reminds me of a pets name.

NameChange92 · 12/06/2019 14:24

Love Marianne (and think it goes really well with Edith)
Like Vivienne
Not keen on Mabel (for some reason I think of it as a cow’s name, not sure if that’s from TV/a book)

playbadlycast · 12/06/2019 14:19

Marianne is one of my favourite names; I thins it’s beautiful. Definitely the one I would go for.

BlueMerchant · 12/06/2019 14:18

I'd personally use Marnie as a name in its own right. I don't like Marianne.
I do like Vivienne.

lucymegan · 12/06/2019 14:14

I love Vivienne and it goes nice with your DD's name.

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2019 14:10

Ahhh, now I see you have an Edith I'd be choosing Mabel as it has the same sort of vintage vibe. Not that names need to match of course, but it's nice if they have a similar style. Vivienne & Marianne, while not particularly 'frilly', are much more so than Edith. How about using Marnie as a name in it's own right, not as a diminutive for Marianne?

BettyUnderswoob · 12/06/2019 09:06

That’s one of the reasons I love it, too, Eleanor

Wiseoldnannyplum · 12/06/2019 09:03

@Eleanor90 I think that's what has kept Marianne stuck in my head to be honest!

Marianne is amazing! Makes me think of the beautiful Leonard Cohen song 😢

Wiseoldnannyplum · 12/06/2019 07:30

Thanks a million for all the replies. It's pretty 50/50 on the Mariannne/Vivienne with Mabel running third! Didn't know there was a pop star called Mabel either so that's good to know! Was considering Marnie for a nn for Marianne down the line but someone told me that's the name of someone in Geordie Shore?? Not sure if it turns me off that nn or not!

Good to hear lots of you like at least one of the names, I know they're not the most popular names (my mother hates them all!). I already have a little girl called Edith (nn Edie) and am used to marmite responses on her name but don't want something no one likes!!

Marianne by a mile.

Mabel is fine, not my taste.

Don't really understand the Mumsnet love for Vivienne.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/06/2019 07:05

I love them all. If pushed, I think I’d opt for Marianne.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/06/2019 07:03

Vivienne.

BlueWonder · 12/06/2019 07:02

Marianne is more timeless and lots of nice shortenings if she wants to later...Mari, Anna, Anne etc. Vivienne is currently popular and a bit spikey looking written down. Quite like Mabel but again will probably date quickly, esp now there's a pop star. Good luck with your new baby, whatever you call her.!

TheRedBarrows · 12/06/2019 07:00

In order:
Marianne
Mabel
Vivienne

userabcname · 12/06/2019 06:55

Vivienne! One of my favourite names.

Peachbubble · 12/06/2019 06:08

Mabel, Marianne second

Fulltimemummy85 · 12/06/2019 06:02

Marianne, I hate Viv as a nn

Modestandatinybitsexy · 12/06/2019 01:19

Mabel's my favourite

username1724 · 12/06/2019 01:09

Mabel is beautiful!

BettyUnderswoob · 11/06/2019 23:54

Marianne

DramaAlpaca · 11/06/2019 23:48

I absolutely love Marianne.

Vivienne is in second place as I prefer Vivien.

Mabel is a distant third.

Strongteaplease · 11/06/2019 23:48

Vivienne is really pretty

WittyFool · 11/06/2019 23:46

Vivienne by a mile
