If we like Emma...

... which other girls' names might we like?

Currently expecting DD and I have always really liked the name Emma. I mentioned it to DH and he was keen too, but both of us are now wondering if we have settled too quickly without really thinking about it. Looking for other suggestions to get us thinking! We have one DS with quite a traditional boys' name, and are not keen on names that are too trendy / out-there. Other names I like:

Helena
Francesca
Imogen
Elizabeth
Rose
Lilian
Isabella

Anything to add to this list?

I love Emma ❤️

My cousin just had a little girl called Emmeline. They call her Emme for short.

Its good to go with your instincts!!

QOD · 15/06/2019 05:49

I like it and was also going to suggest Emmeline nn Emma

AuntMarch · 15/06/2019 05:40

Scottishgirl that surprises me, I'm your age and my best friend is an Emma, but I can think of at least 4 others from our year at school and two more from my college class!
I love the name though. It's only that she might think it's about her that puts me off using it myself Grin

Well done for making a decision. Emma is lovely.

But if you change your mind, maybe Ella, Anna or Ava/Eva.

I'm an Emma and have always loved my name! Only ever come across one other believe it or not, and I'm 33! Look no further, it's a fab name!

I love the name Emma. Neither of my husbands did. Idiots 😂

mogtheexcellent · 12/06/2019 13:51

I have an Emma. Its a good name and we rarely meet any other small child Emmas. Shes the only one at her school (apart from the headteacher).

Huggybear16 · 12/06/2019 13:49

That's fab OP. Emma is a really lovely name, good choice!

MrsD28 · 12/06/2019 13:35

Thank you for all of these suggestions - some lovely names! DH and I have decided to stick with our first instinct and go with Emma. i have found lots of middle name inspiration here though!

Emma was my second choice on my eldest whose name I had picked when I was ten. We went with Emily after that funnily enough, no idea why we didn't stick with Emma. If you like it go with it.

Huggybear16 · 11/06/2019 20:11

If you both like Emma, pick Emma!

I had my names picked at around 10 weeks, one for each sex. I didn't have a list or anything. I just liked those names and stuck to them.

Once I found out the sex at 16 weeks, that was his name. He's 2½ now and I still love it. I never even considered another name for him.

Pick the name you like, not a name similar to the one you like!

If you both are drawn to a name so easily it’s probably the one ! Emmeline if you want something more unusual with a feminist twist

moonpiggle · 11/06/2019 17:28

I agree, Emma is a classic and girly too. I also like Emmie

I'd go with Emma. It's my favourite name, but as I had all boys I couldn't use it.
