Opinions on any of the following please.
I know these type of names are not to everyone's liking but I'm currently loving.....

Polly
Betsy
Connie
Nancy
Elsie
Josie

I also have a passion for the following (but not sure I'd be brave enough to use). I know a lot of people dislike double barrelled names.

Sarah-Jane
Mary-Ann
Clara-Louise

I quite like Josie and Nancy, don't like the double-barrelled ones sorry

Fozzleyplum · 12/06/2019 06:53

I like Polly and Mary-Ann, but none of the others. The single names are too cutesy/ Victorian maid, and the others sound a bit naff to my ear.

Astronica · 12/06/2019 06:43

I like Polly, Nancy and Elsie. I'm not a fan of hyphenated names. I would just use Sarah Jane like this and call her both together even though they are not hyphenated. I like Clara Nancy or Nancy Clara.

WittyFool · 11/06/2019 23:56

Polly & Connie are nice nicknames
Nancy is the best as a stand-alone - I really like it

Tillygetsit · 11/06/2019 22:54

I love Nancy. Polly is nice and I'm not very keen on the others.

marciagetscreamed · 11/06/2019 22:19

Wowsers belulah, don't hold back!
I like all your names OP, but Nancy is probably my favourite.

BelulahBlanca · 11/06/2019 20:48

They are all ugly. Sorry OP.

rachelgrace · 11/06/2019 20:46

Polly- dislike, I think it’s because it makes me think of a doll
Betsy- dislike
Connie- dislike
Nancy- quite like, I think it is becoming more fashionable but not too popular
Elsie- love but maybe could be short for something
Josie- dislike

I dislike double barrelled names but if you like them then you should go for it. I think I prefer Mary-Ann because it flows nicely.

Sophronia · 11/06/2019 14:43

I like Sarah Jane and Mary Ann without the hyphens.

Owlbert · 10/06/2019 21:49

All of your top list and Clara on it's own!

AhhhHereItGoes · 10/06/2019 18:59

I'd say Connie and Nancy are lovely.

Fulltimemummy85 · 10/06/2019 18:39

Hate hyphenated names too, I love all your other options especially Betsy and Polly

lucymegan · 10/06/2019 18:27

I love Betsy, Connie, Nancy and Elsie out of the four is probably choose Nancy.

Sarah Louise sounds better imo.

Juniperjunojunijune · 10/06/2019 18:24

Polly
Betsy
Connie
Nancy
Elsie

I LOVE all of these. I don't like Josie. It makes me sad. It reminds me of that poker girl who survived the attack that killed her mum and sister.

I don't like hyphenated names as I think the hyphen makes lovely names look chavvy. I do love the name Clara though! Just not hyphenated with anything else.

BlueMerchant · 10/06/2019 16:23

Betsy and Polly are the best from your list.
I love Clara but don't like it added to another name.

Watersnail · 10/06/2019 16:22

Polly, Betsy and Nancy are the wrong side of the prim and cutesy line for me. Connie is OK. I like Elsie and Josie. I'd use them as nicknames, with Constance, Elisabeth or Josephine as the full name.

Sarah-Jane and Mary-Ann are well-worn and not my taste really. Clara is very nice, and so is Louise. Jane, Ann and Louise are overdone as middle/hyphenated names though (70s equivalent of hyphen Grace and hyphen May).

I'd mix them up a bit and go for Josie Clara or Elsie Clara.

Divinelyuninspired · 10/06/2019 16:20

I like Connie and Josie.

Shadow1234 · 10/06/2019 16:17

Elsie is my favourite on your list

Peachbubble · 10/06/2019 16:05

I like Polly, Betsy and Connie.

Pinkvoid · 10/06/2019 14:29

I don’t mind Elsie and love Polly, not a fan of the others. The hyphenated ones aren’t great, sorry.

Sexnotgender · 10/06/2019 13:48

What about Penelope with Penny as a nn?

Penelopecute · 10/06/2019 13:47

I wouldn’t use the hyphenated names but I love Mary-Ann maybe as first name Mary and middle name Ann.
Out of your first list, I like Polly and Josie but I’d only use Josie if it was short for Josephine

Sexnotgender · 10/06/2019 13:46

Hate all your hyphenated names!

Polly love
Betsy no
Connie love
Nancy ok
Elsie ok
Josie ok

carmenbea · 10/06/2019 13:45

I love Polly Betsy and Nancy x

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 10/06/2019 13:45

Like Betsy and Nancy

Definately no to the hyphens, unless you have a very posh surname to balance it out or it will sound a bit chavvy. Sorry.
