I really like it but I worry it’s a bit odd. What do you think of the name?

August is definitely not a girls name!

Augusta, Augustine or Augustina are.

JonnyPocketRocket · 12/06/2019 11:36

I love it. It's on my list if we have a boy, but DH isn't keen as he thinks it's a girls name :(
(FWIW our baby's due in November - I like the name for it's meaning and wouldn't necessarily associate it with the month at all.)

BettyUnderswoob · 12/06/2019 09:56

Oh I like August. Sounds elegant and dignified, but hate the nn’s Gus and Oggie, which are anything but.

IIRC August was the real name of 80s pop star Kid Creole (who had the Coconuts) and I liked him.

paperandfireworks · 12/06/2019 00:36

Love it

rachelgrace · 11/06/2019 20:50

I like it and I like the shortening Auggie, like in the book ‘Wonder’

Lavenderblues · 10/06/2019 22:33

Isn't it Augusta for a girl?

Owlbert · 10/06/2019 21:57

I knew a girl called August, I always liked it!

sunnyshines · 10/06/2019 10:01

August is great. Nicer than Augustus imo.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 10/06/2019 09:30

I'd go for Augustus known as Gus for a boy, which is nice. Augusta for a girl reminds me of Lady Bracknell, sorry.

Astronica · 10/06/2019 08:15

I think August is great. Love nns Gus and Augie too. Best for a baby not born in August.

AmyMaria2 · 09/06/2019 21:01

It's awful

Heratnumber7 · 09/06/2019 14:00

starry perfect!![santa]

sonlypuppyfat · 09/06/2019 10:11

That was the Henry Cavill character in the last mission impossible film, I really like it

bridgetreilly · 09/06/2019 10:09

Robin or Carol, obviously.

Starrynights86 · 08/06/2019 23:43

@heratnumber7 baby is almost due on Christmas Day so could just go with Christmas nn Kit or Kitty 😂

If it's a December baby, the rule is you have to call if Noel or Holly.
😀

Starrynights86 · 08/06/2019 21:16

Baby due in December, I quite like August for a boy or Augusta for a girl. I’m glad to hear others like it!

I dont mind it, I think it's worse if they are born in August

AdelaideK · 08/06/2019 17:40

I like it. I don't agree it should only be used if the child is born in August, that sounds too twee for my liking.

ZebraKid71 · 08/06/2019 17:36

I love it for a boy or a girl.. Unless they are born in August, then it's just twee imo.

LenizarLyublyu · 08/06/2019 17:15

I love it

daisypond · 08/06/2019 17:14

Meant to add, doesn’t have to be born in August. It’s the adjective august I think of.

bridgetreilly · 08/06/2019 17:13

Oh, also, as a name I'm pretty sure it's AuGUST, not AUGust like the month. But it'll constantly be mispronounced, so that's another thing to consider.

bridgetreilly · 08/06/2019 17:12

Just to be clear, it's a boy's name, not a girl's name.

It's okay, though I think it's quite a lot to live up to. What if he's a cheeky, mischievous boy?

daisypond · 08/06/2019 17:05

I like it.
