How would you spell this name (pronounced Mike-a)?
My friend told me Micah will be pronounced (mee-ka) and Maike will be pronounced (Make).

Micah reminds me of Micah Wallace in The Commitments. In the film they pronounced it Mick-ah. Like Mickey Mouse. He was a really cool character but I think anyone who has seen the film would probably think Micah = Mick-ah.

Micah pronunciation would depend what country you’re in. Here it would be Mike a, in France it would be Meek a.

Maike = Meye cuh (with possibly a hint of e after the eye).

That said, my youngest is Micah, and at all medical appointments (where his name is called out before I've introduced him as "Mike-uh"), he has only once had the correct pronunciation. He mostly gets "Meeka", "Meesha", "Mitch-uh"... (?!)

So it's not as well known as I had assumed when naming the poor lad!

I'd say Micah is Mike-uh. Not heard of Maike but I'd also have guessed the same pronunciation as Micah.

Micah is a male name: Mike-uh
Meike is a female name & pronounced either Meek-a, May-kah, or my-kuh depending where you are from!

Micah is a biblical Male name pronounced 'Mike-uh'.

Maike looks more like a female name & I'd pronounce it the same.

@tiramisu1 they're pronounced the same. Not by everyone but Maike is pronounced like mike-ah/uh by lots of people.

The 'e' at the end of Maike means that in German it would be pronounced as if it had an 'a' at the end

I pronounce both Micah and Maike the same

But Micah ends with -a whereas Maike ends with -e. Two very different sounds!

Mee-cah (but boys name?) and Mike-ah - I knew a German one would be late 30s now and that was how it was pronounced.
