Bombalurina

A baby name website has just suggested the name Bombalurina to me, based on my other choices which I didn't think were particularly strange.

A quick google tells me this was the name of one of the cats in CATS.

Is this a usable name?? I guess it could be shortened to Lurina, which is quite nice. When I first saw it I was a bit boggled but it's starting to sound more pleasant.

Our son named his new kitten scratchyjumpystegasaurdinosaursausagedoglongbody.
Perfect for a girl I'd say.

MonstranceClock · 04/06/2019 22:51

Placemarking for punctuation explanation.

Topseyt · 04/06/2019 22:49

I might consider it if I ever get another cat. 🤣

As a name for a human child, not really.

64sNewName · 04/06/2019 22:43

Grin What were your other choices?!

I’m interested in the random space thing too. Not in a scoffing way, honestly, but I would love that poster to come back and explain why they do it.

BumandChips · 04/06/2019 22:39

Can’t exactly shout ‘Bomb’ through airport now can you..

EleanorOalike · 04/06/2019 22:10

Eponine, Cosette, Fantine, Theodosia, Elphaba, Galinda, Nessa-Rose or Evita not take your fancy instead?

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 04/06/2019 22:07

Ah yeah!

Quintella · 04/06/2019 22:06

I never knew of the Cats link. It will always remind me of sexy Timmy Mallet. When will see his like again?

I like it! But you will have to feed her up, it is no a thin name.

onalongsabbatical · 04/06/2019 21:32

Meet Balonz's sibling - Bombalurina! Grin

EmpressLesbianInChair · 04/06/2019 21:17

That’s ok Penny, I’ve got tagging disabled anyway.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 04/06/2019 21:16

I think it would suit a guinea pig best.

The guinea pig would have a name that’s bigger than she is!

Penny4Thoughts · 04/06/2019 21:16

Oops sorry Empress doo da I meant to tag @malyshek

Penny4Thoughts · 04/06/2019 21:15

@Empresslesbianinchair what??? Are you joking? No one puts spaces in front of exclamation marks or full stops etc.

Penny4Thoughts · 04/06/2019 21:13

“Is this a useable name?”

Absolutely!

I think it would suit a guinea pig best.

eBae · 04/06/2019 21:08

EmpressLesbianInChair

Yeah, I feel like this should be a bigger issue than Bombalurina as a name! Who puts spaces before final punctuation?!

diddlediddle · 04/06/2019 21:06

Haha ok ok, I see that Bombalurina may be a step too far.

Maybe there is time for someone to defend it! If everyone thinks it's ridiculous goodness knows what it is doing on a babyname website.

Rumtumtugger on the other hand does have a certain appeal...

Great facts re Timmy Mallet. He was great wasn't he?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 04/06/2019 21:03

I hate it when my phone automatically puts the exclamation mark without the space.

Confused Without the space is correct though.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 04/06/2019 21:02

Or else Jellylorum?

DonkeyHohtay · 04/06/2019 21:02

Jennyanydots or RumTumTugger are FAR better names.

Malyshek · 04/06/2019 21:02

Joke !
I hate it when my phone automatically puts the exclamation mark without the space.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/06/2019 21:01

You could have Mr Mistoffelees for a boy.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 04/06/2019 21:00

It couldn’t be a Womble because it’s not a place.
