What do you think of Clover for a girl? Do you think it works on an adult?

I think it's really lovely!

ExPresidents · 04/06/2019 08:29

I loved it but DH said it was a cow’s name. I think it’s lovely, also liked the Clover Carr association and the shortening Clo

Penny4Thoughts · 04/06/2019 08:13

It does immediately make me think of Clover margarine but I think it’s the sort of name I’d get used to if I knew one whereas I really can’t like Flora the Marge that ‘spreads easily’ even though I know one

FangsTasticBeast · 04/06/2019 01:11

Makes me think of cows

Astronica · 04/06/2019 01:07

I like it, and have no idea why 'she would need to explain it'! I love that it fits current trend for plant and flower names but is quirky and unusual at the same time. Fresh and feisty!

madeyemoodysmum · 03/06/2019 22:51

Cows name

SmokeAndBone · 03/06/2019 22:51

I wanted this name but was out-votes by DH.
I love it.

TempsPerdu · 03/06/2019 22:47

Really like it. Sounds fresh and quirky to me and I love the Clover Carr association. It was on our shortlist for DD.

Cows name

DirtyBlonde · 03/06/2019 22:09

Clover is more bovine, possibly ovine, than human

But fractionally better than Flora, as it's never had the strapline 'spreads easily'

Though I have heard that song, and I'm not sure it would be an easy name to live with in the teen years

AuntieStella · 03/06/2019 22:06

It's also a rugby song

'Roll me over in the Clover'

eBae · 03/06/2019 21:51

Watership Down, What Katy Did and Animal Farm - it's a great literary name!

threesecrets · 03/06/2019 21:46

It's awful but Flora is nice

BearRabbitPants · 03/06/2019 21:43

@Ilovewillow I also have a Willow I didn't realise it was a brand name of butter? I've never thought of it as an animal name either ! I love it Smile

dreichuplands · 03/06/2019 20:56

It was on our short list, I think it is a nice name.

OldUnit · 03/06/2019 20:53

Love it

dontticklethetoad · 03/06/2019 20:50

I love it and I am now annoyed that I didn't think of it Grin

fairiesandelves · 03/06/2019 20:49

Love it. Such a pretty name.

lovemeorleaveme · 03/06/2019 20:47

Not keen prefer Flora!

Swedishfish · 03/06/2019 20:42

I love Clover! I’d seriously consider it for another DD if I have one. Other plant names are popular so why not Clover? I think it has a really gentle and quirky feel to it and it also makes me think of the What Katy Did character! And as you said OP, the lucky association is a bonus! I’ve never met a Clover but if I did, I’d tell them immediately how interesting and lovely their name is!

Susannach · 03/06/2019 20:10

Surprised at how positive this is overall! I love the lucky association too.

I used to go to school with a Clover. I like the name.

Ilovewillow · 03/06/2019 18:39

Lovely - my daughter is a Willow also a butter and an animal name apparently- no issues here! Clover is really pretty!
