@Hobbesmanc My Felix has cousins called Rex and Max! 😂

Hobbesmanc · 05/06/2019 13:51

I think its a great choice - as well as happy its means lucky or fontunate (hence why it was so popular for cats I guess) However I don't like Felicity which is the female equivalent. I love Rex and Max as well. Must be a Latin thing lol

user1474894224 · 05/06/2019 06:46

I have a Felix. I still love the name. It means happy.

JonnyPocketRocket · 05/06/2019 06:35

I love it, but DH and my dad both immediately vetoed it the grounds of "like the cat?" 🙄
(My dad doesn't really get a veto; he just likes to think he does!)
The meaning is lovely.

Astronica · 05/06/2019 06:26

I really like it. I know a little boy called Felix, and find it rather cool.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 04/06/2019 18:33

Love it!

Greyhound22 · 04/06/2019 16:38

I have a Felix.

No one has ever mentioned cat.

Only people on MN are pathetic about it.

thisisthetime · 04/06/2019 15:51

It even!

thisisthetime · 04/06/2019 15:51

Love ot

ErrantTesselation · 04/06/2019 15:50

Love it and shortlisted it but ultimately the cat (and especially cat food brand) connection put me off.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 04/06/2019 15:44

I'm afraid I also really dislike it and the sound it makes. It's not a name I would choose personally.

BlueMerchant · 04/06/2019 15:41

I think it has a European feel.
I however do not like it. Not just the feline association but also the sound.

Pinkvoid · 04/06/2019 15:37

I’ve always loved it but DP vetoed purely because of the cat food.

EpicDay · 03/06/2019 08:17

We call our Felix Fe (actually mostly I call him Mr Fidget but that’s another thread entirely 😬). We love the name and the meaning. Only ever one Felix the cat comment and he’s 10 now.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 03/06/2019 08:13

I like the name but I do think cat

Icklepup · 03/06/2019 08:13

I love it

tiramisu1 · 02/06/2019 22:46

In the UK it's also a brand of cat food.

floraloctopus · 02/06/2019 22:37

The only felix I know is the most obnoxious person I've ever met, no idea what he was like as a child though as he's 20 something now.

Jossina · 02/06/2019 22:22

I knew a Felix who was called Flea by his friends but he was also quite short.

Pandatone · 02/06/2019 21:58

Just realised I've contradicted myself on the nickname front! Think what I was trying to get at is the nickname possibilities that others - school friends and the like - may come up with. Options seem more limited and I just wondered if that takes away a certain fun element. Then again, kids are pretty creative!

I'd be happy with using the full name myself. Maybe I'm making an issue where there isn't one!

VickyLouT why people feel the need to make those sorts of remarks will always amaze me. Clearly you've chosen the name by this point and no, that's not the reason you chose it!

Yes Fe is a nice shortening. No desperate need to have a nickname, I'm just aware that names tend to get changed along the way. I'd be happy with the full version!

Felix and his amazing underpants.

Alsohuman · 02/06/2019 21:47

It’s our grandson’s name and we love it. I guess he’ll get called Lucky at some point in his life.

Rystall · 02/06/2019 21:47

I love it! I think the cat association is for people of a certain age only.. in a couple of years it won’t be a thing.
Go for it!! Fabulous name. 😍

OhhMyLittleGirls · 02/06/2019 21:42

I really like it ;)
