Roman for a name?

alltummy · 01/06/2019 20:30

Roman is pretty much the only name my DH and I both like. I have some I love more but he won't entertain them. What do you all think of Roman? We have an Autumn already.

@leghairdontcare like Arlo!

Probably much more common than people realise at 75 in the name charts. I've met about 6 babies over the last 5 years with the name. The first one was a really rough family, and I'm afraid that first impression put me off somewhat. The last one I met was a very sweet long haired little dude at a forest school though. Personally I much prefer Romany. But I think it fits with Autumn anyway.

Kokeshi123 · 04/06/2019 14:15

I like it. Nice solid sound.

Honeyroar · 03/06/2019 23:18

I knew a few Romains in France (pronounced the same).

OhMyDarling · 03/06/2019 23:17

Love it

leghairdontcare · 03/06/2019 23:15

It's the new name that everyone thinks is so unique and soon there'll be thousands of them. I know 3 born in the last year.

JaneGlorianaVillanueva · 03/06/2019 23:11

A friend has a son called Roman hes 3/4.

It's quite a cool name but I'm not quite sure it suits him, at least not now as a young child. I do think it's a strong name that a person has to grow into if they makes sense?

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 03/06/2019 22:36

I like it a lot; good solid name.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 03/06/2019 08:12

I like it

Penelope52 · 02/06/2019 20:59

I know two Romans - my Dad (Eastern European) and a friend

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/06/2019 19:38

I know a few, it seems quite popular now. I don't like it though tbh.

lucymegan · 02/06/2019 19:37

I love it.

GlitterPixie · 02/06/2019 19:32

I really like it

AmyMaria2 · 02/06/2019 18:31

Much prefer rowan

Pinkvoid · 02/06/2019 11:26

My step sister’s son is Roman. My only other association is Roman Polanski which isn’t a great one...

MondeoFan · 02/06/2019 07:23

Yep go for it

TantricTwist · 01/06/2019 23:11

Martin Kemp and Melanie Sykes both have sons called Roman.

I think it's a lovely strong boys name.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 22:58

By the way- it's fairly common in eastern Europe but not hugely popular afaik. I lived in Russia for a few years and didn't meet a whole lot of Romans. Akeksandr, Dmitriy and Andrey by the dozen, but not Roman. When I left the trend was with older slavic names such as Vsevolod, Vladislav, Gordey or Elisey.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 22:56

I think it's a cool name. If you both like it you should go for it.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 01/06/2019 21:43

Martin Kemp's adult son is Roman. He's a radio host.

Penny4Thoughts · 01/06/2019 21:29

I prefer Rowan but it’s ok - quite nice

austenozzy · 01/06/2019 21:26

I like it. I had a friend at school called roman, his family was east European.

mistletoeandneatvodka · 01/06/2019 21:19

I like it! Unusual but not unheard of. Really strong sounding too

AmbridgeGirl · 01/06/2019 21:18

Love it. Currently pregnant and it's on our list if it's a boy.
