Looking for a name for DS, not too long to go and we're stuck! Already have a DD with a not-too-common-but-not-made-up Scottish girls name so want something similar. Help me out!

Where we are in Scotland (or where family is) there are a tonne of Alistairs, Alexanders, Hamish and Anaes/Inaes (spelling?). Also Xander.

Laineypopps · 03/06/2019 22:15

I have a Ruaridh (pronounced Roo-Ray) I love it!

Ginger1982 · 03/06/2019 22:08

@AlecOrAlonzo @Tavannach I think @Malyshek means that SHE isn't Scottish, not that the name isn't.

All my favourites because my family:
Neil
Callum
Roddy
Sandy
Donald
Angus
Hamish
Douglas
Euan
Iain
Gordon
James/Jamie
David/Davie (There were Scottish kings called David)

But I don’t know if I’d love them all as names if we weren’t related...

AlecOrAlonzo · 02/06/2019 00:12

@Malyshek

I think Hamish is Scottish. As far as I'm aware it's an Anglicised version of Seumas which means James. The aspirated Gaelic name sounds like Hamish to English ears.

I like

Eachainn
Calum
Seoras
Tormod
