I’ve never heard of Chester the Molester and Chester isn’t unheard of as a name for babies. It’s sound lovely to me. Very warm!

I'm in my mid forties and have never heard of Chester the Molester. Having said that, I really don't like Chester as a name, though I do understand the desire to honour your DH's grandfather.

Personally, I'd go for Rory, as it's a much nicer name in my opinion. Could Chester be used as a middle name?

Chester is really nice! It sounds quite classic to me but not very common - I only know Holly Willoughbys son with this name. Rory is nice too but I prefer Chester.

Most boy names are also used on dogs so I wouldn’t let that bother you!

I have teens and in my experience, nicknames don't always rhyme. I know (through my kids) boys called Paedo-Jake, Druggie-Jack and Paedo-Rob which aren't even alliterations never mind rhyming. I think
a Chester is equally likely to get a harmless nickname like Chesney (if he's still on Corrie in 10 years), Cheese (Cheshire Cheese) as molester.

Holly stole her mate Davina's baby name which was Chester.

Davina had a thread on here about it at the time. She was fewmin.

The only Chesters that I know are dogs. I think that human Chester's would get nicknamed molester later.

Rory is a great name.

Googling and Holly Willoughbys little boy is named Chester, so hoping it is just mainly the older generations who will have these connotations rather than the general public

We do love the name Rory but Chester means so much to DH and I have nothing but positive connotations of it in my mind, it just makes me think of his lovely smiling grandad and that Emma McVeys little boy Chester who is a gorgeous wee thing. We also thought it was more unique. How sad ☹️

Actually I’ve changed my vote to Chester because I think honouring a relative you admire is lovely - plus Chet is a really cool nickname.
If you love Rory then Rochester might be the half way name

Yes Prosecco just googled it. Way before my time, none of my family or friends seem aware of it either. Only seems to be on mumsnet I hear of it which is a vastly different generation to him and his future school friends so I'd like to think these vile connotations would not be made in RL.

You know much nicer teenage boys than I did OP, if they were above using a phrase like 'Chester the Molester'. I knew a boy whose nickname was Paedo-Jack because apparently he 'looked like a paedo'. He was called that by his own friends (teenage boys， needless to say) and they all thought it was hilarious. So I shudder to think what sort of things a school bully is capable of coming up with Confused
