I like it, and I quite like Nellie as well. But they both feel incomplete to me, like they should be short for something.

Nelly/Nellie - awful & inevitable unfortunately, so it would put me off Nell

Fine as a stand alone name imo - and I’m not someone who likes diminutives as first names.

Much prefer Nell to Helena or Eleanor.

My son is Rànell and he's called Nell for short. Some people can't pronounce his name though we've had ranell like flannel, or RandalConfused it's a french name pronounced Rah Nell

There was a Bell at my school a few years back, she was a lovely girl, with a lovely name to boot!

We have a Helena nn Nell or Nelly and love it. Always gets nice comments.
