Sister name for Nella

Hi everyone! My two year olds name is Nella, which we love, but it’s very unique and making it difficult to find a name to go with it! I don’t want a weird name for the baby, but also don’t want Nellas name to seem out of place or made up. My favorite option is Lena Rose (rose as middle), we also like violet, Lucy, and Sadie but I’m finding them fairly common with Nellas name.

Thoughts on the options? Any other suggestions?? Thanks everyone!

I love Lena but pronounced the usual way - don’t think I’d use it wanting a different pronunciation

I know a couple of Nellas (both short for Fenella) and they have sisters called Jemima (Mima) and Delphi.

If your Nella is a Fenella then you could go with another unusual name with more unusual nickname combo like:

Addie (Addison)
Vannah (Savannah)
Mimi (Miranda)
Ama (Amabelle)
Veta (Elisaveta)
Mika (Tamika)
Callie (Calliope)
Rory (Lorelai)
Vivi (Vivienne)
Sephy (Persephone)
Etta (Nicolette)

Or some standalone unusual names:

Amberley, Averil, Bronte, Blue, Bluebelle, Carissa, Cherry, Calista, Danika, Dulcie, Emery, Fallon, Fabia, Flavia, Giselle, Honey, Idina, Ianthe, Jessamy, Jerica, Julissa, Jona, Kimora, Karenza, Katinka, Larissa, Livia, Mala, Maeve, Mercy, Odette, Posy, Paloma, Pandora, Rosina, Robina, Rowena, Saffron, Sorrel, Taryn, Ulrika, Vashti, Veda, Xenia, Ysanne, Zeryn

I said on another post how lovely is the name Nell. So cute yet also strong and independent sounding,

I think it would pair beautifully with Norah. Although get in quick- I reckon Nora/Norah could become very popular.

Please don't use Bracken, though... That just sounds 'out there' for the sake of it!!

Nella and Sadie really rolls off the tongue as a combination, I like it!

Nella and Lena sound lovely together, and I would automatically pronounce Lena in the way you said. Also like Sadie.

Other suggestions: Tahlia, Alana, Leonie, Jessa, Zara

I know a couple of Nellas. There’s the children’s cartoon Nella the Princess Knight which has maybe raised its popularity. They have sisters called Rita and Josie - both short for longer names. Lena is nice but it does look like an anagram. Jodie? Io? Zandra? But Sadie is fine. How about Zadie?

tdam · 23/05/2019 06:58

Violet is lovely with Nella in my opinion, as is someone else's suggestion of Thea. I also love Iris, Edie, Pearl, Lyra, Dree, Bronte, Willa, Ophelia, Chiara, Maeve, Alba, Dahlia and Aida with Nella.
