Eden
Cillian
Odin

Ive just realised they all end in N... Shock
Middle name would be Declan. A bit concerned with Odin, but it's Dh's favourite...

Hello !

I don't think that the middle name matters that much- you'll never use it. That said Devon Declan does sound a little weird if you ever did say his full name.

Not keen on the spelling Cillian, much prefer Kilian. But a name I like even more is Ciaran (or Kieran, whichever you like best).

Eden is okay, I like Cian but not as much as Ciaran !

KinderSurpriseBump · 27/05/2019 09:55

None goes well with Declan as mn sorry

ProudmummytoMA · 26/05/2019 19:15

My favourite from your list is Devon but I'm not sure that it goes with Declan.

MikeUniformMike · 25/05/2019 13:29

Devon - girl
Eden - girl
Cillian - ok if you're Irish
Odin - Yes
Cian- ok if you're Irish

Astronica · 25/05/2019 13:26

Cian. And Cian Declan is fine.

lostlobster · 22/05/2019 12:44

Cillian or Cian

outsho · 22/05/2019 12:43

Devon Declan sounds really daft

outsho · 22/05/2019 12:43

I only like Cillian but it sounds silly with the middle name, I think all of those names would though because they have the same ending as Declan.

ChloeBella90 · 22/05/2019 11:20

Devon is a unisex name. I know a male Devon and 2 female Devons.
I’d say Eden was a girls name too personally though I know it is technically unisex.
Not keen on your other names. Really don’t like Declan either for a middle name

MummyBear2352 · 22/05/2019 11:20

Cian

Baskerville · 22/05/2019 11:17

Saints are human, seren! (In fact Declan is a saint's name -- there's a St Declan's church in Ardmore in Waterford.) So are Cillian and Cian, for that matter.

Whereas Odin is the sort of uber-God/Father of the Gods of Germanic mythology, father of Thor and a whole bunch more gods. Married to the charmingly named Frigg. (And, as Wotan in Wagner's Ring Cycle, runs around shagging absolutely everything in sight, human or goddess. Grin) Not that it's not fun, but quite a tall order...

serensiren · 22/05/2019 11:01

Thanks everyone. A mixed bag! A bit stuck now, Declan is a name I have no affiliation with and I'm not really a fan of it, but means a lot to my DH. I really can't think of any other names I'd like.

@Baskerville would that not be similar to naming your child after a saint? (This is what DH said to me when I implied the same as what you did and I couldn't think of a comeback) 😂

What about Oran?

I would go for a name you love and not worry too much about how it sounds with the middle name - how often do you actually say someone’s full name unless you’re giving them a major bollocking

EspressoPatronum · 22/05/2019 08:41

Cillian or Cian
I also really like Eden but not sure it goes with Declan.

Baskerville · 22/05/2019 08:40

Cillian or Cian by loads — Devon and Eden are awful, and Odin seems a bit vainglorious, like calling your child Zeus — but I don’t think either goes with Declan as a middle name. The endings are too similar.

SupaNintendoChalmers · 22/05/2019 08:40

Looooove the name Cillian.
But I agree with what others are saying about the repetitive sound with the middle name Declan. But I mean, it's not the end of the world. It's not like people are constantly called by their full name.

bridgetreilly · 22/05/2019 08:35

Cillian is my favourite, but I agree, none of them sound great with Declan. Why not have Declan as the first name and then pick a different middle name?

qj17 · 22/05/2019 08:20

I wouldn't use any of those names with Declan it is too repetitive.

Purplelavenders · 22/05/2019 08:15

I like Cillian. Or how about
Rowan
Quentin
Nathan
Reuben

Disappearedtothe80s · 22/05/2019 07:13

Devon is unisex. My DD (who is 20) has two close friends that are girls called Devon. Its a really nice name so that would be my pick.

Eden does seem like a girl's name. Not a fan of the rest.

I love Declan though OP.

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 22/05/2019 03:22

I like Cillian but agree that Eden is a girls name for me.

I don't think any of these names work with Declan as a middle name though.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 22/05/2019 00:27

I don’t think any of them go with Declan- Sorry. But to pick one, I’d say Devon. Eden I think of as a girls name, even though it’s unisex, it’s very feminine sounding. Cillian and Odin I really don’t like. Cian is an older done a death name to me, I know several Cian’s.

Proseccofuelled · 21/05/2019 23:19

Don’t really like any of them - if I had to pick probably Devon

Shadow1234 · 21/05/2019 20:20

Prefer Eden and Devon for a girl
Not sure they all flow well with Declan as a middle name (but we don't tend to use middle names too much, so I suppose that wouldn't be too much of a problem).

I do like Cillian
Not keen on Odin or Cian

Calixtine · 21/05/2019 19:48

Eden or Cillian
