What about an actual river name?
Isis ( would work for boy or girl) or Ure or Niall?
Maybe Medway for a girl?

Take into account the surname.
It might not be great if your surname is Banks or Trent or something

Funny how people don't like names that are nouns of other things but forget all names originally meant something. We're all constantly looking up name meanings. Names aren't just a random collection of sounds.

I know a little boy called River, it's cute & suits him. His mum calls him Rivs quite often which sounds nice too.

I think River Phoenix. It’s a bit tired and dated with too much wannabe hippy about it for me. But it’s OK. I think the name of an actual river might be better perhaps.

Those of us of a certain age will always associate it with River Phoenix, but not sure that should stop you!
