@CupOhTea hmm making assumptions on people, says more about your character than me 💅

And just because a baby hasn't been born yet, does not mean for one second that it isn't a baby!! A lot of women I know, including myself once the babies name was decided, called their baby inside them that name. I think it's horrid of you, just because the baby hasn't been born to make a baby any less special.

I think it's perfectly clear, you need to chill out a bit hun..💅💁‍♀️❤️

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 19/05/2019 10:03

Holly Willoughby and Davina McCall both have a Chester. I like it. And MN is the last place to ask for baby name advice. Unless you are calling your child something dull like Matthew or Eleanor, then your child will be bullied, apparently.

CupOhTea · 19/05/2019 09:59

funinthesun

If you honestly can't tell the difference between someone pointing out some of the negative connotations, when specifically asked to give their "honest opinions" on a hypothetical baby name, for a child which has not yet been born and asking posters to publish the names of their existing children so that you, some stranger on the internet, can take the piss, then I really can't help you Hun 😂😁😜☀️♥️🏇.

MrsMozartMkII · 19/05/2019 08:57

I find it a bit cumbersome. I don't know why but it doesn't flow. Can't imagine shouting it out across a crowded playground.

I've not met a pet named Chester.

Kids will always come up with nicknames, as will other parents, and the 'drawers' and 'molester' sadly do both easily go with / rhyme with Chester.

UrsulaPandress · 19/05/2019 08:51

I quite like it.

ChampooPapi · 19/05/2019 08:50

I love Chester! But I was a big UK hip hop fan early naughties so Chester P was kind of a hero through my teens

FunInTheSun2019 · 19/05/2019 08:47

@CupOhTea wow someone is having a bad day!
I don't know how you have gathered from my post that it's so nasty 🤨

I think it's nasty and foul that people tell the OP that the name Chester is associated with a child molester!

Why not say they just don't like it?! That's a honest opinion isn't it? Without being vile.

Don't you think that it is bullying and disturbing that other posters have thrown beyond horrific connotations to the OPs babies name???
I think it's very contradictory of you that you call me a bully, but think that writing such statements is acceptable?!

I think you need to rethink your post and maybe read the whole thread first 😊

LolaSmiles · 18/05/2019 09:35

Theres always a danger that when people seek honest opinions that they may not like them.

For me, Chester is in the pet name category. That's not mean or nasty. It's just my opinion on the name. Just like I asked my DH his opinion on names for our bump and he's laughed at some of them, said he associates a name with dickheads because 'every X I've ever met has been one'. It doesn't mean every X is the world is a dick. It's just his opinion.

People have different tastes. It's why we aren't asking friends and family their opinions on names.

MrsBertBibby · 18/05/2019 09:10

The thread title is "honest opinions". Not "please say my baby name is grate CakeBearCakeBearStar

People gave their honest opinions.

CupOhTea · 18/05/2019 08:46

@FunInTheSun2019

What a mean spirited post. You can dress it up with your cutesy emojis all you like. It's a really foul post.

Mumsnet is great for baby names imo as it is the only place you seem to get honest opinions. But it isn't for everyone. The good thing about it is that it isn't compulsory to consult Mumsnet before you name your baby. So if the op doesn't want to know what Mumsnet thinks, she doesn't have to ask.

Of course not everyone is going to like a name. That's only natural. The important thing is that the op likes the name, as I've said a few times already.

I also said earlier, that I bet that the op wouldn't like my dcs' names either, as we all have different taste. The crucial difference is, I am not asking anyone for opinions on my children's names.

If the op loves the name, good for her. It isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's not a terrible, offensive name, which nobody should ever use, like Adolf or something. But since she asked, no it isn't to my taste.

I certainly won't be posting my existing children's names so that you can rip the piss out of them Hmm. What an unpleasant, bullying individual you sound. Since Mumsnet is so appalling, maybe you could, you know, not come on here spouting your nastiness and trying to goad people into letting you make fun of their children ffs. Because, really, it's not making you look great and it isn't too pleasant for us either.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 17/05/2019 23:51

@Ebrill I was going to say the Chester makes me smile as I think of Chester Bennington. Tragic to have lost him, but he was also one of my favorite musicians. ❤️

FunInTheSun2019 · 17/05/2019 22:32

OP MN is vicious when it comes to baby names..I have yet to see a thread where the majority like a name 🙄

The nickname thing is absolutely ridiculous!
'Chest of Drawers' 'Chester the jester' chest so he will be called 'tit' or even worse a child molester!!

Children will find a nickname for you, no matter what your name is!!

I would love to know what all the haters children are called 🙈 come on one of you post your children's names!

If you and your partner love it, it's a done deal!
Little baby Chester will be arriving in the world soon 😊 congratulations on your pregnancy by the way! I hope baby Chester isn't giving you too much sickness and back ache! Xx

Jinglejanglefish · 17/05/2019 19:11

Because they think that is correct and it isn't

CupOhTea · 17/05/2019 19:06

That was a great username

It was. I had to read it out to DH when I saw it and we both loved it - so mature Grin.

I couldn't use Benedict for DS after though. It wasn't really in the running anyway.

Fuzzyend · 17/05/2019 18:51

Chester the jester.

No.

MikeUniformMike · 17/05/2019 18:44

Lots of people call a chest of drawers chester draws.

Jinglejanglefish · 17/05/2019 18:38

I like it.

'chester drawers', really?Confused

CatSmize · 17/05/2019 18:35

I love it.

MikeUniformMike · 17/05/2019 18:34

That was a great username.

CupOhTea · 17/05/2019 18:27

@MikeUniformMike

Yes!

bridgetreilly · 17/05/2019 18:23

When you say it's an old name, you mean as a surname? Or a place name? I can't think of anyone with Chester as a first name from more than about 40 or 50 years ago, if that.

MikeUniformMike · 17/05/2019 18:19

Chester will get shortened to Chest and he'll get called Tit or something

MikeUniformMike · 17/05/2019 18:18

Was it BendydickC...?

CupOhTea · 17/05/2019 18:14

There's a poster on here (or used to be) whose username ruined the name Benedict for me forever! I'm sure you can guess how Grin.

Yogagirl123 · 17/05/2019 18:06

I like it
