...did you do it because you like the sentiment or just because you liked the name?

Really just a curiosity post sparked by someone saying on Twitter today that Liz Truss named her daughter Liberty because she’s such an ardent believer in freedom and democracy...

I know someone with a name that suggests a political perspective her parents are fully against (think pro Irish independence) but they really loved it so went for it anyway! Was wondering how much commitment went into concept based names

I didn't choose a virtue name, but I chose a name because I liked the name, and knew I would always like it.

Just realised that wasn’t the op’s question. We liked the sentiment, as in she brought us joy, but also the name. One of my dds also competes at a sport against a girl called Success. She does live up to her name

One of my dds is called Joy. Some days I feel she was well named and other days not so much

I know a Willow, (I realise it’s not quite the same as your point OP) and when I think of willow I think of someone elegant, graceful, tall. This willow is short and stubby, lovely, but not what I imagine

No if anything it would put me off like I love the name Verity but am less likely to use it having such a strong meaning association

Ha! I know a Serenity too, @ImportantWater. She was anything but and was often found to be doing the wall of death in a Little Tikes car at playgroup.

I also know a Peace who is super grumpy

I don’t have any concept children, but I do know a Serenity who is rather argumentative- these names can backfire
