Is Jemima a strong or twee name?

As per title really, I can't decide which camp it falls into.

It is a biblical name so it's obviously got transition on its side and I like the strong J sound at the start.

But on the other hand it ends in an A and I feel like lots of girls names ending in A are very popular and a bit twee and nothingy. I personally put names like Mia, myla, isla, lila, ayla, amelia in this category. I know there's nothing wrong with those names if you like them but I personally don't so I want to avoid a name with the same connotations.

What do people think?

I think it's lovely. Not twee and not too strong.

Definitely strong. And not at all in the same category as the very popular sounds like Lila, Mila, Isla, etc. I love the strong J start when that is a fairly rare sound now - currently it's all about vowels and 'l's, though 'f' and 'v' sounds are current as well. So, I find Jemima quite distinctive and fresh. The puddleduck ref doesn't worry me at all.

Thanks all... seems mixed opinions!

I don't care about the puddleduck link, I'm at peace with that!

I just don't want it lumped in with twee names! I guess it does depend on the child.

Any name suggestions also welcome.

I wouldn't think of it as especially 'strong'. It's not twee either though. I like it.

Twee. I really dislike how many girls' names end in either an 'a' or 'eee' sound. It's very noticeable when reading down a register!

Also, I have to admit my first thought is Puddleduck.

Kind of both. I could imagine a doll on the one hand and an eccentric strong person on the other.

The only Jemima I know is a belter of a little girl. Strong, confident, bright and lovely. She's in no way twee and all the way awesome

Jemima Puddleduck and the rag doll in Plat School both immediately come to mind, and so I really don't like the name, it feels twee.

Interestingly, I find the Isla/Mia/Lila names quite different from Amelia, which feels like a good name.

I wouldn't put Jemima in the same category though.

More twee to me - but because of the Puddleduck assocation, not because of the A at the end.

I think there's lots of strong names ending in A, but this isn't necessarily one.

It sounds more twee to me. It doesn't come across as a strong name
