Quirky/Hippy/Earthy Names?

Lamduan · 10/05/2019 23:32

We don’t know what the sex is yet, but we would really like a different, quirky name for our first born! Maybe earthy, a bit hippy-ish.
I have been through so many lists and posts and none are jumping out at me. Help! Confused

It's not original (but very rarely used)

Zebedee (nn. Zeb)

One of my ancestors names

The hippiest person I've met lately was called...

Keziah

Pinkvoid · 31/05/2019 16:06

I know a Blossom, Sage and twins called Willow and Meadow.

Todd is an old name for a fox.

Hobbesmanc · 30/05/2019 14:19

Some lovely choices

I love Lark or Wren for girls, also Cadence or Serenity. Callisto is pretty. Fox or Bear for boys, maybe Dickon or Brock.

Stellan for a boy?

Or Oisin? It means little deer...

Carob?

Isn't that the fake chocolate stuff hippy parents would give their kids as a 'treat' in the 1980s? Grin

Tillygetsit · 12/05/2019 22:59

I know a little 4yr old boy called Carob. Not my cuppa but maybe yours?

Hefzi · 12/05/2019 22:26

I don't think I'd go for Oleander - all parts of it are toxic.

Fritha
Freya
Gaia
Bracken
Rainbow
Lilith

All very popular in the hippy circles of my childhood.

For boys, it was
Yew (but don't. We tormented poor Yew for years - the you/yew thing is irresistible to the under 8s)
Thor
Yule
Jed
Jethro

Willow is nice but far from being different or quirky these days.

Lamduan · 12/05/2019 12:32

Thanks for the suggestions!
I do love Willow for a girl but I’m so stuck with a boys name. This is so hard!

There are some really lovely names amongst the suggestions here Smile

I have only seen one original name on this thread!

The brief was hippy/earthy names. What are you bringing to the thread?

I've always thought Cedar would be a beautiful name. It could be for a boy or girl.
