Hello, please help!

We have two daughters with names ending in ie we had decided their names very early on in pregnancy but we just cannot decide on a boys name!

Here is our shortlist:

Max

Rainandwine · 13/05/2019 18:43

Louis is a fabulous name & Louis Armstrong was interchangeably Louie/is pronunciation & didn’t seem bothered

Max is also a great name

Mayalready · 13/05/2019 18:42

Eddard nn Ned

AlyssasBackRolls · 13/05/2019 18:36

Louie but put Louis on the birth certificate

Lavenderblues · 13/05/2019 17:24

Louise or Louisa are the feminine versions.

Louie or Louis are the male versions. Louie makes the pronunciation outside France much clearer.

PropagandaMachine · 13/05/2019 17:16

Louis (spelt correctly!) is my favourite. I like it a lot, actually.

Antonin · 11/05/2019 23:38

Might be some gender confusion with Louie. I had an aunt named that

outvoid · 10/05/2019 14:53

Louis is best. I don’t mind Max but wouldn’t just put Max on the birth cert.

NoHolidaysforyou · 09/05/2019 22:40

I like Max but it's too short for me, and short names remind me of pet names. How about Maxwell instead?

Sophronia · 09/05/2019 21:41

Max

DieselSucker · 09/05/2019 19:59

George or Max
Definitely not another ie ending, as they would sound something like Donald Duck's nephews.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 09/05/2019 18:45

Max

Icklepup · 09/05/2019 13:03

Max!

escapade1234 · 09/05/2019 12:48

Louie is just such a girly name for a boy.

daisypond · 09/05/2019 12:27

I understand the logic of Louis pronounced as Lewis- though I think why not spell it Lewis - which is a perfectly fine name- but Louie is girl’s name and I’d always assume a girl. But let’s not go there’s- there’s been bitter threads on this before...

Sparklysunflower · 09/05/2019 11:28

In many countries outside of France Louis is indeed pronounced Lou-is.

That's perhaps why the Louie spelling has become more popular than Louis in the Uk

daisypond · 09/05/2019 11:00

I think another IE name would be a bit much. Louie just looks so wrong and looks ignorant. But Louis is nice. Freddie is too cutesy. That leaves George and Max. I like both of those.

BlueMerchant · 09/05/2019 10:51

Max
I think another ie ending may make them sound a bit of a 'trio' if you get meaning!

padfootprongs · 09/05/2019 10:47

I actually really like all those names, it's a difficult one but my order would be
Louis (I think this spelling is fine now prince Louis has this name, should be less confusion!)
Freddie
George
Max

But you can't go wrong with any in my opinion

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 09/05/2019 10:47

Freddie.

Haz1516 · 09/05/2019 10:31

Freddie, but as a Frederick formally.

escapade1234 · 09/05/2019 10:30

I don’t like Louie/Louis because it sounds like a very weak name for a boy. George is boring and there are just so many now that they’re morphing into one for me at school.

So Max or Freddie for me.

Popcorntwice · 09/05/2019 10:28

I love the name Freddie! We couldn't use it as it didn't go with our surname but I think it's just so lovely!

Olivia333 · 09/05/2019 09:54

Grin @mollie85 If were to have a middle name it would probably be Charles because it’s a family name but we may not have a middle name at all
