What do you think of the name Paxton nn Pax? He will have a short two syllable surname begging with a P also if that affects your thoughts

My friends had a dog called Paxton. Only time I've ever heard it as a name.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/05/2019 21:50

Or did I mean turkey stuffing?

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/05/2019 21:50

Sounds like instant gravy & Jeremy Paxman. Sorry it's a "no" from me.

LemonadePockets · 09/05/2019 21:47

I know one, he’s a cool wee fella 🤷🏻‍♀️

ScrambledSmegs · 09/05/2019 21:46

You know what? People have been given unusual names for centuries. Maybe even millennia. I bet in the Stone Age there were SIOBs when a baby was named Ogrooha instead of nice, sensible classic Ug.

It doesn't matter. As long as you like it, your DH likes it and it's not offensive or bonkers or will adversely affect the child's life in some way or Sex Fruit (a 'real' name rejected by registrars in New Zealand) or similar, I think he'll be ok.

Probably wouldn't go for it with a surname that also begins with P. Alliterative names are kinda comic book sadly. Blame Marvel.

Rangeloaf · 09/05/2019 21:41

It’s appalling. Just sounds so unappealing

Paxton Parker. No

Supersimpkin · 09/05/2019 21:41

Cheese! Paxton & Whitfield, smelliest shop in UK. It's famous for that kind of cheese.

Littlebird88 · 09/05/2019 21:41

ahhh stuffing... sorry.
I don't like it but if you do go for it

Starryskiesinthesky · 09/05/2019 21:39

My first (childish) thought was tampax.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/05/2019 21:36

Cheesemongers.

littlebillie · 09/05/2019 21:33

It was the name of the dog in " you've got mail" it's a good name but I think some may remember that movie

diddlediddle · 09/05/2019 21:15

It would be nice if I could offer the OP a glimmer of hope that someone likes the name Paxton.

Unfortunately not possible 😬

pilates · 09/05/2019 20:04

Awful

Offallycheap · 09/05/2019 20:00

Isn’t that the name of the rabbit in TimmyTime?

TinselAngel · 09/05/2019 19:57

I'm assuming you mean Joseph Paxton being in Victoria? Just checking you're aware it's was his surname?

oohbubbles1 · 09/05/2019 19:53

its not awful just v american, does that bother you? x

SilverySurfer · 09/05/2019 19:22

Really, really awful.

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2019 11:00

Everyone called him Tampax. Grin

KindnessCrusader · 09/05/2019 10:37

I like Pax but yes I'm so sorry I immediately thought of stuffing when I read Paxton.

Saharafordessert · 09/05/2019 08:39

Tampax?!!

AGoodWench · 09/05/2019 08:36

I know pax as an abbreviation for passengers too.

BrainScience · 09/05/2019 08:33

It makes me think of the diesel in Thomas. He’s one of the only friendly diesels though so that’s a good thing.

FenellaMaxwell · 09/05/2019 08:32

I went to school with someone who’s surname was Paxton. Everyone called him Tampax.

downcasteyes · 09/05/2019 08:28

My immediate association was "paxton whitfield", the cheese company.

Reallybadidea · 09/05/2019 08:27

Jeremy Paxman, but stuffed. Not a very attractive picture.
