Is it too old fashioned? I like Cat and Cate but not Cath and Cathy.

My mum was Catherine but due to her Irish background was always called Kitty. Congratulations on the baby OP. I am sure she has a lovely name x

KateTTC123 · 11/05/2019 01:13

It's great that everyone likes the name so much! Have to confess that baby arrived on Tuesday and we went for a different name in the end though!

not my style but its very classy and timeless, it won't date and do prefer spelt with a c too x

ReginaGeorgeous · 10/05/2019 16:28

This is my middle name, every time I have to give my full name I have to specify "it's Catherine with a C"

borntobequiet · 10/05/2019 10:07

I've always preferred the C spelling, and envied my cousin Catherine (Cathy) her name. Irish background so we both had Mary as a second name.

lovemeorleaveme · 10/05/2019 09:52

Classic and timeless and actually would be unsual for a baby born now, you probably wouldn't across many the same age.

NameChangedNoImagination · 08/05/2019 01:09

I like it.

Aikaterina · 08/05/2019 00:52

Kate Middleton is a Catherine with a C. It wouldn’t need to be Cate.

Love nicknames Cat or Cassie

BackforGood · 08/05/2019 00:04

Lovely name, but I think if you want to use Kate, you need to spell the full name with a 'K'.

Sophronia · 07/05/2019 23:56

Lovely, classic name.

SallyWD · 07/05/2019 20:38

It's a beautiful timeless name. One of my favourites.

MikeUniformMike · 07/05/2019 19:20

I don't like Cate.

Pegaroo · 07/05/2019 18:51

Timeless

windysowindy · 07/05/2019 18:48

I love it. And I know a very lovely Catherine so I associate the name with all good things.

Clownfish123 · 07/05/2019 18:45

It's a beautiful name but prefer the spelling Katharine.

Sparklysunflower · 07/05/2019 10:28

The problem will be the inevitable spelling out.

autumndreaming · 07/05/2019 09:56

I really love it. Much prefer it spelt Katherine or Katharine though. Love Kitty as a nickname as well

Sparklysunflower · 07/05/2019 09:55

Catherine is nice as are nicknames Cat and Cathy.

blitzen · 07/05/2019 09:32

The best name, and best spelling OP. I may be biased!

MercyBodle · 07/05/2019 09:16

Catherine is one of a small group of girl's names that are classic I think - ie never dated, enduring through centuries... So while some nns and some spellings might go in and out of fashion (eg Kath and Kathryn seem dated,) the name itself doesn't date. Kitty is a current nn, and Cate is smart. I also like Katharine spelling. Lovely choice!

ImTheCaddy · 07/05/2019 08:30

I prefer it with K but otherwise yes - lovely

Ohyesiam · 07/05/2019 08:28

Really beautiful. I wasn’t keen on Cathy till I read Wuthering Heights! Love Cat and Cath. And the very cool Cate.

MamMamMam · 07/05/2019 08:26

I love it. I wanted it for my dd, shortening it to cassie.
When she was born she just looked so loke the name my dh choose there was no question that she wasn't going to be cassie 😥

Bentley111 · 07/05/2019 08:26

Love Catherine.
Caroline is lovely too.

daisypond · 07/05/2019 08:23

Yes I love it. I like kitty as a shortening too.
