I have always thought it was awful. I just can't view it as a name no matter how often I have heard it.

Makes me think of the Storm Troopers in Star Wars.

MsTSwift · 07/05/2019 19:12

Quite a name to carry off. If you have a confident upbeat kid it could be ok. A shy 12 year old introvert will hate you for it. It would work for one of mine but not the other. Too risky

Trinnidad · 07/05/2019 12:29

I went to school with a kid called storm who happened to be really irritating so I'm not a fan. The teachers used to have a but if a giggle saying things like "Storm, stop brewing over there" or "Storm, quell yourself" etc. All tongue-in-cheek but I imagine that could get irritating for a child...or an adult...

squee123 · 07/05/2019 01:38

stripper name

happyhillock · 07/05/2019 01:30

Nay. horrible name

Decormad38 · 07/05/2019 01:26

So they can be in the X men? It sounds like a traveller name.

SimonJT · 07/05/2019 01:24

It’s a lovely name, I have a friend in her early 40’s who is called Storm.

I note someone has said the name Storm isn’t feminine enoug, why does a girls name need to be feminine?

Tavannach · 07/05/2019 01:15

I think not.
I like it but it's very defining. Suppose she was a serious, quiet individual who was interested in widgets and embroidery.

I like it.
Might I also suggest Taran (pronounced Tah-ran, not with an ‘uh’ sound at the end. ) which is the welsh word for thunder. Traditionally a boy’s name but I think it could also work for a girls.

desparate4sleep · 06/05/2019 22:48

horrible

Bonbonchance · 06/05/2019 22:44

I taught a Storm about ten years ago, she was great! Just seemed a normal name. There was another Storm in the same year group who was very different but suited her too. Never met any others. Suggests a strong, purposeful child to me, as both Storms were but one was quite forthright and one was quietly confident.

Harebel · 06/05/2019 22:39

Silly name unless you're in the X-Men.

applesarerroundandshiny · 06/05/2019 22:38

I like it

Tillygetsit · 06/05/2019 22:30

I'd expect a brooding tearful child.

Thertruthisoutwhere · 06/05/2019 22:16

Love it but my traditional dh would never allow it!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/05/2019 20:22

Yay. I like it

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 06/05/2019 20:20

I like it. But you will end up calling her Stormy when she’s little- mark my words! I say go for it!!

Sessy19 · 06/05/2019 19:11

Went to school with a Storm. Her surname was Norman! Her parents were very successful professionals and she was a lovely, sweet, v bright and academic girl. I shouldn’t think her unusual name did anything to hold her back.
I think it’s a lovely name

NameChangedNoImagination · 06/05/2019 17:11

Yay. I knew a lovely one.

DaisiesAreOurSilver · 06/05/2019 16:14

Definitely a stripper name.

flumpybear · 06/05/2019 16:12

Not RTFT but I think stripper rather than doctor or solicitor with a name like that I'm afraid

ZandathePanda · 06/05/2019 16:09

Willo le wisp?

SilverySurfer · 06/05/2019 15:25

No lol - daft name for a child.

KindnessCrusader · 06/05/2019 15:17

@Sparklysunflower We're all different 🤷‍♀️ one woman's Storm is another woman's Imogen/Lily/Isabelle
