Baby boy due today and still don't have a name decided. Don't even have a shortlist to "see what he looks like". Came across this name last night and I kinda love it but don't know if I'm having a moment of madness because I don't love anything else and I'm climbing the walls waiting for him to arrive.

What are your thoughts?? Have a toddler called Eli, if that helps.

Laurie is terrible. Very wet!

Stiffasaboard · 05/05/2019 21:21

Oh I love the name Laurie
Timeless and really underused

lovelychops · 05/05/2019 20:28

People always mention kit on these threads which is a dreadful name.
Not keen on Fox at all op sorry. It does sound London try hard, like atlas and Atticus!
Eli is lovely hope you find something you both agree on

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 05/05/2019 20:24

Feck, no.

I have too much to do with the real thing, mostly in the form of shit the dogs have rolled in.

As PP have said, Felix and Nat would both work well with Eli. So would Jake and Zac.

Likeagibbon · 05/05/2019 20:22

If your criteria is not unusual but also not popular one mum I met with the same criteria named her son 'Laurence'. I think that goes well with Eli. Good luck!

Likeagibbon · 05/05/2019 20:19

I love it. But i know it wouldnt be brave enough to give this to my child. Ive stuck with more conservative names when naming my 3.. Although if i loved it enough I would consider it as a middle name so if they wanted a more quirky name when they are older they could choose to use their middle name.

NannyPear · 05/05/2019 20:03

Stiffasaboard yeah that's the problem. Eli isn't unusual but it's not popular either (never met another in almost 3 years). So I'm looking for the same kind of thing (though this wasn't my reasoning for considering Fox - I just like it!).

I appreciate all the suggestions everyone! You think you've considered them all but quite obviously not!

I love it! Met brothers called Phoenix and Fox the other day. Told my OH and he said he'd love to call our possible future son Fox also Grin

Stiffasaboard · 05/05/2019 18:35

@Ipanema01 you have a list of boys names but with a girls name in it? (Scout)

I love Kit

Def not Fox OP. It’s a really try hard name.

Go a bit left field but not so weird that it stands out a mile, esp when you already have an Eli which is unusual but not bizarre.

Leon
Dominic
Seb
Dashielle
Gray
Troy
Arno
Edgar
Billy

sawyersfishbiscuits · 05/05/2019 18:31

I love it.
Foxes aren't vermin either PP.

BelulahBlanca · 05/05/2019 18:29

I’ve taught a couples of Foxes (?) both from normal, middle class families. I like it.

Ipanema01 · 05/05/2019 18:27

You and half the population GreyGardens88 Hmm

GreyGardens88 · 05/05/2019 16:02

Give me a George any day over a Devlin, Gage, Rafe or Bear!

Peach1886 · 05/05/2019 15:30

Leon?

Willowkoko · 05/05/2019 15:27

I love Fox, I know a very handsome 30 something old fox who suits the name very well.

Other ideas:
Kit, Bodhi, Gage, Forest, Parker, River

ReganSomerset · 05/05/2019 15:24

I like it. But I'm another X-Files fan, which may explain it.

NannyPear · 05/05/2019 15:20

I really like Nathaniel, Casper and Felix but DH veto'd those ages ago 🙄

OP posts:
NannyPear · 05/05/2019 15:19

DH isn't mad keen anyway. I still like it :)

I think it's normal that people want their kids names to match/go nicely in some way.

MN really likes the name Kit, I've noticed.

BertrandRussell · 05/05/2019 12:20

Nathaniel shortened to Nat.

Nat and Eli.

ballsdeep · 05/05/2019 12:17

Good god just no. Its like that townies celeb and Andy carrol who have named their child Wolfie Nine!!

Wtaf? It's not even a name. Poor kids

Greenyogagirl · 05/05/2019 12:17

I love it but I do have a Bear Smile
My nephew is called River which I also really like

flumpybear · 05/05/2019 12:15

No, sounds like you're trying to be cool but you're actually being a dick. Give him Fox as a nn

Fairenuff · 05/05/2019 12:07

What about Badger?

pinkhousesarebest · 05/05/2019 12:03

Why would you do this to your child? In ten years( or less) you will be so mortified.

Viebienremplie · 05/05/2019 12:02

Things I think of when I hear this name:

Horrible ignorant Trump-supporting news propaganda channel

Foxy, he's a fox etc. Just no

Animal that leaves nasty stinky shots around that my dog likes to roll in

I like the pp suggestion of Kit
