Which of these do you prefer or are all awful?

Miles is the best of the three

RoseMartha · 05/05/2019 23:09

Miles

SinkGirl · 05/05/2019 23:05

Niles all the way. I really wanted to name our twins Frasier and Niles but DH refused. Boo.

PissOffPeppa · 05/05/2019 23:02

Myles, spelt that way

Xiaoxiong · 05/05/2019 23:00

I'm so sad everyone saying the name Giles is horrible! It's a saint's name and St Giles was so lovely with his tame deer. And after he was disabled himself saving his pet deer he became patron saint of the disabled, hence St Giles Cripplegate in London.

Thertruthisoutwhere · 05/05/2019 22:05

Niles as a tribute to niles crane!

justforthis7 · 05/05/2019 21:16

Miles is ok. Others awful.

Flamingosnbears · 05/05/2019 21:06

Miles

Sparklysunflower · 05/05/2019 20:42

Giles is much nicer than Miles/Metres/Kilometres!

PlatypusLeague · 05/05/2019 18:02

Miles is the best by far.

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 13:06

Giles is absolutely hideous
Is Niles a name ?
So I guess Miles which is reasonable

miamiibiza · 05/05/2019 13:04

I really Dante. I taught one who was gorgeous

Disfordarkchocolate · 05/05/2019 08:29

I've just remembered Giles Coren so I have to change my preference to Niles.

Xiaoxiong · 05/05/2019 08:16

Definitely Giles. Love Buffy. Also a funny Tolkien story, Farmer Giles of Ham.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/05/2019 08:01

I love Miles. Spelt Miles.

Dante isn’t that bad, he’d become Dan.

Sparklysunflower · 05/05/2019 07:59

Miles is a unit of measurement. Like Kilometres!

Niles is a little better but I prefer Giles.

None, but Miles if it has to be one ...

SemperIdem · 05/05/2019 00:42

Miles, I like a lot.

Isn’t Nile a (more modern and accurate) anglicised form of Niall? Previously commonly anglicised to the godawful Neil?

Niles possibly an anglicised form of Nils, a Scandinavian name?

Giles is just dreadful.

Drizzlehair · 05/05/2019 00:15

Good to see me kind of a mix of replies!
DH loves all 3. I don't like Miles or Niles which has somehow mutated into him thinking I love Giles. I do love buffy and once named an indoor tree Giles which I don't think is helping my case

I really like wolf or dolph tbh but I don't think I'm going to realistically inflict either of those on a real human

Another one we both love is Dante

Poor kid is fucked

Niles
Miles
Giles

nocoolnamesleft · 04/05/2019 23:23

Miles Naismith Vorkosigan is one of my favourite fictional male heroes, so I'd probably go with Miles.

iogo · 04/05/2019 23:21

Two boys called Miles and Niall bullied my son so badly, we had to move schools so Miles and Niles would be out for me.

I quite like Giles but I can see I'm in the minority. :)

Laodamia · 04/05/2019 23:17

The thread title made me giggle for some reason Grin

Ou of the three I think I'd go for Miles.

MotherofPearl · 04/05/2019 21:40

Niles is a name - Niles from Frasier.
