Lian pronounced Le-anne. Do you think the spelling gives it a new lease of life?

I am a Lian, I hated it when I was younger, now I find it unique and different. However, I tend to spell it Lianne, as it looks more feminine

DieselSucker · 11/05/2019 10:26

It just seems like a typo. Sorry

Sux2buthen · 10/05/2019 14:00

It's fine, easy to understand and quicker to learn when they're older.
My name is traditional, spelt the usual short one syllable way and people get it wrong every time so you can't win anyway

megletthesecond · 10/05/2019 13:54

No.
I assumed it was a typo for Liam.

The poor girl would have a lifetime of explaining her name.

redavocado · 10/05/2019 13:52

It looks like lien which is a legal term...

Hollowvictory · 10/05/2019 13:40

I thought it was Ian with an l on the front.

WyncyG · 10/05/2019 13:39

I know a classy female Lian, but she's South African

sweetkitty · 06/05/2019 23:24

Being a 70s child I know a Leanne, Leeanne, Leighanne, Lyanne and a Leanna.

Personally I’m not keen.

I really like the name Leanne! But I don’t seem to like many names that are popular right now.

Leanne, Claire, Michelle, Carly, Melanie, Hayley and all similar names of girls I went to school with in the 80s, I like.

SurreyisSunny · 06/05/2019 20:07

Like others just looks like Liam.

If you like the name Leanne just spell it traditionally. Will be much easier for you but also more importantly for your DD to be

Congratulations!

ArfArfBarf · 06/05/2019 19:54

The German I know pronounces it Lee-an

ZandathePanda · 06/05/2019 19:51

I would pronounce it ‘lion’

MumUnderTheMoon · 06/05/2019 19:48

I'd pronounce that lee-un it's odd. Like Liam bit a bit different.

Arusedmoose · 06/05/2019 19:05

Lee-yun

ArfArfBarf · 06/05/2019 19:04

I also know a German male Lian

Sessy19 · 06/05/2019 18:59

Lianne or Leanne, both are awful, awful names. I have known a few and they were all unpleasant. Liam is also an awful name, as an aside 🤭

dreichuplands · 06/05/2019 13:43

Lian is a figure in Chinese mythology, he is a male.

Pegaroo · 06/05/2019 07:17

I am a Leighann....I’ve always hated my name. It’s always felt manly and not elegant and a bit chavvy....Sharon ,Tracy and Leighann in the back of a Ford Fiesta with Dave and Garry!!

AnnieDianaLulu · 06/05/2019 03:41

I know a Lian, so I automatically said it like that - I don't like the name though.

Britneysfa · 05/05/2019 12:31

If you like the name leanne, call them leanne.
My name is an odd spelling of a traditional name, and i struggle with it

Lian just screams that you wanted a leanne but thought youd make it different!

All of these unique spellings seem so desperate to prove something in my opinion. "Eg Her name is Kayleigh but we thought we couldnt possibly name her the same as other people so went for kay-lee, we just "different", yes its pronounced the same, yes its the same, but see when its written its Different!"

Sparrowlegs248 · 05/05/2019 12:29

No, I'm not keen on Leanne and would pronounce this to rhyme with Liam. It sounds like a boys name.

RussellSprout · 05/05/2019 12:26

Don't do the youni8que thing please!

Why do people ruin perfectly good name spellings like this?

fleshmarketclose · 05/05/2019 12:24

No, I read it as Liar. Stick with the tried and tested spelling. I think Leanne is quite dated though tbh.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 05/05/2019 12:18

Made up names and miss spelt ones are really downmarket sorry 😐
