I am 22 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I originally set my heart ok Alice for a girl but I thought about it again and want to name her with meaning. I want to give her a name meaning of 'new beginning' because she is my new beginning. So I thought of the name 'Nova' which means new for her first name but can't find a middle name. Anyone have any ideas and what do people think of that name?

I like Nova , Nova Ursa, Ursa is a constellation there is Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.
I like the name Nova so thought of stars hence Ursa.
My daughter is called Lyra which is a Star in Ursa. You could have Nova Lyra maybe .

Typical when you don’t pronounce the letter R properly 👀
Nova and Noro don’t sound the same

JocastaElastic · 11/05/2019 04:01

Thanks everyone for your suggestions

@NuffSaidSam I laughed at nova Caine haha

I just love the name even though I know it can have some connotations

I'm not trying to make her my 'new beginning'
I just want her name to be special and with meaning. She is her own person but I've not had an easy time lately and she's a new happy joy for me and my children

I love it.

I knew a Nova a few years ago, early 20s and she really suited the name.

I would choose and 3 or 4 syllable name also.

Nova Clementine

Agree with brigitreilly that you have to be careful setting up some expectation within yourself (and with your daughter) that she will be ‘your’ new anything. She will be her own self, with all the autonomy of any human. Your job is to raise her to be independent of you, not an emotional safety net for yourself. Maybe that’s too harsh, but still something to think about.

I actually quite like the name Nova, otherwise, except it would be inadvisable on my continent, where it’s the name of a popular radio station! I think it would go best (rhythm wise) with a one-syllable middle name.

Congrats on your pregnancy.

Offallycheap · 06/05/2019 05:51

The vauxhall Nova was called the Corsa in Europe (and eventually adopted here) as “No Va” means “won’t go” in several European languages.

Just sayin.
