We've managed to get our list down to 5:

Rachel
Maxine
Amy
Georgia
Amelia

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated!

Like all except Georgia

hewontstopshitting · 05/05/2019 23:22

Out of your top 3 I’d chose Georgia

aibutohavethisusername · 05/05/2019 23:21

Rachel

Maxine makes me think of Maxine Carr too.

rachelmaxinehere · 05/05/2019 21:08

Name change here..

My name is Rachel Maxine. I'm early 30s and it's served me well. I'm glad I'm called Rachel and not Maxine though. To be honest I rarely use my middle name for anything other than official documents.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 05/05/2019 18:46

Georgia is my favourite out of your list! 🙂

Smoliver · 05/05/2019 11:49

Well I like Rachel. It's classic but not overly used. Georgia is close second though.

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 11:45

Rachel is very dated to our generation which means she’ll be the equivalent of a 30-40 year old now being named Barbara. (Sorry to any Barbaras!)

It wouldn’t stop me using a name I loved though - just honestly answering your Q.

afterashowerr · 04/05/2019 17:44

Rachel is lovely , classic and retro in a good way. I don't like Maxine , very harsh sounding.

MyNameIsRachel · 04/05/2019 17:04

Rachel is awful, sorry 😂Grin

MyNameIsRachel · 04/05/2019 17:03

Glad people like my name!

I’m called Rachel and it’s such an easy name to have, only people seem to want to spell it Rachael

I do think of it as a bit of an 80s name (1986 here)
But what’s wrong with that !

NameChangedNoImagination · 04/05/2019 16:59

Amy and Amelia are boring as sin. The others are great.

noodlefairy · 04/05/2019 16:47

Seems as though Maxine is a marmite name! It took me a while to get DP on board but now it's a firm favourite.

I don't like Amy or Amelia. Others are ok.

outvoid · 04/05/2019 12:23

Rachel is awful, sorry. So is Maxine and my first thought is Maxine Carr.

I like Amelia best out of the five. The others are very 80s/90s.

formerbabe · 04/05/2019 10:59

They are all nice and none would raise an eyebrow except for Maxine...

LarkDescending · 04/05/2019 10:58

The ONS tells me Maxine peaked in 1964. I knew they were older than me Smile

TrumpsFerret · 04/05/2019 10:56

Maxine is really awful, sorry op. I am also not a fan of Georgia, probably as I've know a few horrible ones. Likewise Amy.

Rachel is lovely. Amelia too but they are literally everywhere. They're in double figures at my child's small school. So it would be Rachel for me.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 04/05/2019 10:53

Maxine is so cool! The rest are a bit boring.

LarkDescending · 04/05/2019 10:52

Very surprised to hear people say Maxine is very 80s. I was born in the late 60s and Maxines (like Marlenes) are older than me! (Well, obviously not all of them).

I like Georgia, but Rachel feels fresher now.

NoSparkleLeft · 04/05/2019 10:37

Georgia is my favourite by far.
Georgia and Rachel both fall in the ‘classic’ name category for me.
Maxine very 80’s but is ok.

Sophronia · 04/05/2019 10:33

Rachel or Maxine. Don’t like Georgia.

AlbertWinestein · 04/05/2019 04:13

Maxine?! I am Officially old if that’s back in vogue. That’s like a Mum’s born in the 50/60s with uncool names name!

GiveMeFiveMinutes · 04/05/2019 04:08

@TildaTurnip Yes! I can't help but pronounce Maxine the same way 😂

GiveMeFiveMinutes · 04/05/2019 04:06

Georgia is a beautiful name, very strong and classic.

Amelia is very overdone at the moment. There will be lots of Amelia's in her class when she starts school.

Rachel and Amy are very 80s/90's, but not in a bad way.

Bouncingbelle · 04/05/2019 03:03

Rachel & Georgia were my final 2 choices for my baby but i had a boy. They are gorgeous classic names imo.
Just dont like maxine - think there are so many boys called Max now, and maxi just makes me think of maxi-pad.
