Edward or Jude?

DS due next week and we are torn between the two- which do you prefer?

Edward.

I know a Judy and a Judith and both women go by "Jude" as a nickname which would put me off using that name for a boy.

Rosy, Edward not particularly popular amongst the children where I live, however Lots of people calling their boy Jude. Things are different geographically.

Really don't like Jude.

However, you will just get a list of people's choices. They are quite different sorts of names so some of us will like the one sort and some the other - I don't think people will be able to give you strong reasons, it's just a personal preference thing.

I like both but really dislike Teddy so would discount Edward if you were thinking of using that Grin

Jude is a separate name from Judas (both are in the Bible as different people) so I don't think you should worry about that connection. I still prefer Edward, though.

Mad Edward is 23rd in the charts. Jude is 50th.

Jude is very popular now, i really, really dislike it. However, Edward is a classy name.

Saint Jude is the saint of hopeless causes. IMHO a great name! But I also love Edward. It’s a toughie.

Jude is short for Judas, and makes me think of Judas Iscariot, betraying Christ and committing suicide - hardly a nice connotation for a child’s name! And then the term Judas goat- an animal trained to lead other animals to the slaughter house while bring spared itself. And the Judas tree - thought to be the species on which Judas hanged himself.
