Name regret... but she's 3!

We had picked out 2 names when I was pregnant with my daughter. One of them was the name we would have used if our son was a girl, so had obviously loved the name enough. I suffered some complications after birth which resulted in me not seeing my baby for 3 days. By this point, DP had announced the name to everyone - the name we had loved for our son too. He said he was sure we would have chosen that name because she looked just like this name and it suited her perfectly.

I was happy with the name. However... I've never ever called her by her full name, always a nickname derived from the full name. And the older she gets, the less I like the full name. The nickname suits her perfectly. The full name is very frilly and feminine which isnt my daughter at all.

Also my brother calls her a horrible nickname from the full name as a joke and I hate it and feel she's now going to be picked on if people know her full name.

Juno is great, it's not an odd nickname at all. There wll be far more unusual names in her school.
You can always teach her to call your brother Rumpelstiltskin or something daft Grin He'll learn

Your brother is a dick. Sounds like he'd come up with a stupid name for every name you might have chosen, so ignore him.

There is nothing wrong with having a longer "Birth Certificate" name, and an everyday name. Indeed, I'm known as my middle name, and DS1 is known as a shortening of his name. Very few people know my full name. I'd leave the birth cert alone, and continue to use Juno.

Juno is a great name by itself, Juniper- willow is a mouthful
Are you saying you would have given the baby the same name if dd had been a boy?

Her name is Juniper-Willow [first name hyphenated], we call her Juno. My stupid brother calles her "willy nipper" [brother is 15 and a dick]

Plenty of children go by shortened versions in school, I'm sure it'll be fine. Can you tell us what her name is if it's not really unusual. I'm sure it's lovely.
