This is a name with great significance in my family so I would love to honour my DGrandmother by using it -
But what connotations does this name give to you? Is it too old fashioned? Or a beautiful classic?

One of my favourite names-really like it.

Maggie is cute.

There was a girl I was at school with called Margaret, she was a little on the unusual side I guess and used to get bullied relentlessly. Poor girl, she was a nice person. They did tease her for her name thinking it was an old lady name or something. But ... now late 20s Margaret is doing extremely well in her career and seems to have a wonderful life. Happy for her, she deserves it.

I considered Margo(t) for my DD. Thought about having Margaret as the full name. Maybe for potential DD #2 in the future. Fingers crossed.

It's awful! 3 very hard sounding syllables.

SwedishEdith · 27/04/2019 21:05

I think it's a really ugly sounding name and Maggie is even worse. It's a family name for me as well.

howwudufeel · 27/04/2019 21:05

It’s horrible because of Thatcher.

SnuggyBuggy · 27/04/2019 21:04

It's my grandmother's name too but I think it's dated rather than vintage personally.

tenredthings · 27/04/2019 21:02

Sorry but Thatcher has killed this name for me.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2019 21:01

It's the sort of name I'd be happy to use as a middle name. I don't much like any of the diminutives so I'd want to put it somewhere it couldn't be shortened. It's my grandmother's name, so has significance to me, too.

Parent19876 · 27/04/2019 21:01

I love it. There was a Margaret in the nursery i worked and she was called Mayzie when she was younger, which i loved.

Rainatnight · 27/04/2019 20:59

I really like it. We nearly did it for DD.

sauvignonblancplz · 27/04/2019 20:59

Beautiful

BummyKnocker · 27/04/2019 20:58

I love it

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2019 20:57

It's a beautiful name.

Divgirl2 · 27/04/2019 20:55

The only young girls I've known called Margaret recently have been Irish travellers.
I think it's a fine name really, and I like Maggie. I think I'd prefer it as a middle name though.

Lifeaback · 27/04/2019 20:55

I’m a big fan of classic/older names so really like it but am sure plenty of people will be along to say they hate it
