Edgar or Edmund?

I don't really like any boys names, but dh loves these two. I don't have a problem with either and think Eddie is quite sweet.

I just don't have a preference of one over the other so looking for opinions, or any issues with either? They both sound fine with our surname.

People don't get bullied because of a name, kids get bullied and bullies will pick on anything, if it's not a name it'll be their shoes or their haircut or their accent.

Exactly. Also, kids are far more accepting of different names than many adults on these threads!

I prefer Edmund of the two, although he is a bit of a shit in TLTWATW.

What on earth is tease worthy about these names?! I can see a William possibly teased with Willy, but Edgar or Edmund?

Why would they get you bullied?

I know 5 little Edwards, so that is a big no for me, and we don't want a nickname as a full name - Eddie is fine as a nn but definitely not for us as a full name.

My middle son is called Edmund. He’s now 19 and he likes it and so do I. Despite negative literary connotations (Narnia and King Lear) it’s classy and flexible, unusual without being try hard. Can be shortened to Ed or Ned. Good Old English name. Edwin is another possibility. Not so keen on Edgar even though he’s the good guy in Lear.

I prefer Edgar. Edmund will forever make me think of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and he’s not a nice character!
