Why are boy names so difficult?! Help!

Hi all,

I've seen a few people saying the same, so glad it's not just me. I'm due in 4 weeks, girls name sorted. Boys name I'm clueless. Hmm

We like classic, English names but nothing too popular. Think lines of Sidney, Elliot, Hugh etc. Nothing seems to be striking us. Family names such as grandparents etc aren't quite right and wouldn't suit a child of this generation (Gary type names)

Looked through what feels like the whole internet and books.... nothing.

Any suggestions of names or advice if you have had this situation? Really don't want to regret our choice or it just be a 'that'll do' name. Confused

We really struggled with boys names! We didn't have a name for DS until 6 weeks after he was born - we had to pick something before the 6 week deadline to get him registered.

It's worth racking your brain now for a name because otherwise you'll really feel the pressure once they're born and EVERYONE asks you "has he got a name yet?" Every five minutes. You really feel the pressure!

Classic names I like Hugh, Hugo, Preston, Felix!

I had a MASSIVE list of girls names I loved and about 7 boys names.
Our final list was:

We went with Francis. I absolutely adore it.

Thanks everyone. I like Oscar but I'm a teacher and have taught a LOT of them in the last few years so not sure with it being so popular. I like Harold and Toby too!

I have thought about doing that but what do people call the baby while deciding a name? I feel like I'd feel guilty having a nameless baby for so long but maybe that's just me?

In that case I would wait and see what the little chap looks like. Previously unconsidered names popped up after both dc were born. Havent you got 6 months to decide?
