The do you like your name thread made me think of this question.

Name you liked for your unborn your other half vetoed for no good reason. So I mean fairly common names you liked you didn't get to use.

Mine is Allanah dh was on a mega no.

Oh and Caspar as above

starkid · 02/05/2019 17:07

I love so many names, and DH just loves to veto them all and only suggest stupid/insane names which he wouldn't seriously consider, I'm sure, being quite conservative in nature.

I'm not actually pregnant yet so I guess it doesn't matter for now. We've agreed on one girl name so far, although it's not one I love, but the only one we've both agreed to.

Some he's veto'd so far:
Dahlia
Astrid
Roxanna
Helena
Luca
Emerson
Tristan
Eli
Ronan
Jasper
Caelan

Caspar.

But I refused to give up and as the midwife handed DC2 to me, she said ‘does he have a name?’ DH rolled his eyes and said ‘well I guess he’s Caspar’

BigusBumus · 02/05/2019 15:35

Rupert. Sad

BlueMerchant · 02/05/2019 15:34

Carmen - apparently reminds him of a girl at school who was smelly.
Alice- boring he said.
Luke- too posh
Sebastian- just a huge smirk and NO.

elliejjtiny · 02/05/2019 15:31

Luca, Caleb and Jesse

IdaBWells · 02/05/2019 15:27

Dominic
Daniel

Dominic was my favorite boys names but DH thought the syllables to close to our surname.

Daniel: he was bullied in his first job as a teenager by Dan. So big no.

We found a name the day before he was born. DH suggested it and I really liked it.

Christian & Pagan for twins Grin

outvoid · 02/05/2019 11:24

Sebastian. He went to school with one and he was an arsehole so it put DP off. It’s DS’s middle name instead.

MingeOnFire · 01/05/2019 20:39

Every single name I suggested. Every single one.

DS ended up with his choice of name, although it does suit him.

Peanutty86 · 01/05/2019 09:56

Another Elliott here. "Sounds too posh!"
Nearly called him that anyway but husbands "oh well it's going to be Elliott then isn't it" after being asked what his name was when getting the bc had me in floods of tears and we ended up going for a coffee and deciding on another name that I like but I still think Elliott would've suited him.

AgnesNaismith · 01/05/2019 07:43

Ariadne and Xanthe

Sessy19 · 01/05/2019 06:56

and @AgnesNaismith...your MOTHER IN LAW got a veto????? WTAF????? I’m horrified! Please god let none of my in laws see this site, and dare they even THINK to have a say....awful!! How terribly intrusive! I’m sorry for you xx

Sessy19 · 01/05/2019 06:53

@ItsAllGold19, how is being unmarried a trump card in naming... do tell! OH and I aren’t married...if I get bonus points for it, I’ll take them! 😂

MsTSwift · 01/05/2019 06:44

Esme dh had never heard of it and insists that it’s not a real name I just made it up!

I know why they vetoed Eliott I think in lots of 80s films Elliott’s were the cringing nerdy characters bullied by the jock types. Nice name but would never have used it either

SpeedyBojangles · 30/04/2019 21:25

Nathan

Vagchange · 30/04/2019 20:46

Flora, because of the spread.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 30/04/2019 20:43

Lucy. Would not even consider it as a middle name.

DD ended up with a name he initially vetoed, and then suggested a few months later. He denied that it had ever been suggested, until I pulled out my list and showed him both the name and his veto next to it.

MrsHedgeLegs · 30/04/2019 18:57

Adam

Sessy19 · 30/04/2019 18:56

DH veto’d Ezra and Golda, with no rational explanation. Then presented the name he and his ExW were going to call DSD but didn’t at the last minute...erm, alright mate!! 😂
To be fair, he has had many a hideous name thrown back at him....

GreenTulips · 30/04/2019 18:35

Clara

ReganSomerset · 30/04/2019 18:33

To be fair, Jemima makes me think Puddleduck too.

samandpoppysmummy · 30/04/2019 16:55

I really wanted to call my DD Jemima but DH said it reminded him of Jemima Puddleduck and wouldn't let me! I can't imagine her not being called Poppy now though :)
