I’ve got a long way to go but I like thinking of names!
This will be my rainbow baby after 3 years of ivf and two losses which made me think of “arc en ciel” (rainbow in french, ciel on its own is sky).
Do you think it’s a bit too out there? I thought it could be quite pretty, I imagine DH will hate it 😂

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
barryfromclareisfit · 23/04/2019 19:30

Skye is the name of my brother’s dog.
Ciel as in seal? Erm ...

I like your reasoning, though. Why not just call your baby Rainbow? Or Ragan. That’s a fabulous name.

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/04/2019 19:29

I think Enfys sounds lovely. But Ciel is a no-no (and I write that as a French speaker). I think calling her Ciel would be worse than calling her Regenbogen.

If rainbow is your theme of choice, is there some reason why you don't want to call her Rainbow?

dreichuplands · 23/04/2019 19:27

It is a massive Coca Cola water brand in Latin America but not a bad name.

Still18atheart · 23/04/2019 19:26

It’s a no from me I’m afraid. purely because I don’t know how to pronounce it.

Bamchic · 23/04/2019 19:25

Enfys is beautiful- I taught a little enfys who we also called Effie

Boobiliboobiliboo · 23/04/2019 19:24

Lots of children called Enfys (En-vis meaning rainbow) in Wales.

DameSylvieKrin · 23/04/2019 19:21

Arco Iris is rainbow in Spanish; perhaps Iris would be a less out there option?

SleepingStandingUp · 23/04/2019 19:20

Skye is really pretty OP

Langrish · 23/04/2019 19:19

TitianaTitsling

Rainbow in German is "Regenbogen" what about Regean/Reagen/Regen ?

The Exorcist 😱

Icedlatte · 23/04/2019 19:19

I don't speak French, and read it as sounding like Kyle!

abcriskringle · 23/04/2019 19:18

How about Celeste?

Sagradafamiliar · 23/04/2019 19:17

I liked Ciel for DD2 but OH didn't. It's beautiful. 'Si-elle' is easy enough to pronounce.

TitianaTitsling · 23/04/2019 19:15

Rainbow in German is "Regenbogen" what about Regean/Reagen/Regen ?

Langrish · 23/04/2019 19:14

Many congratulations.
So sorry, I thought of Lidl too.

ApplestheHare · 23/04/2019 19:14

I love the thinking behind it but the reality would be difficult due to people pronouncing and spelling it incorrectly. Congratulations on your rainbow baby Flowers

Summerloving17 · 23/04/2019 19:14

Thankyou all, it is pronounced sea - elle,

I had no idea of the skincare brand but that and the immediate reaction has put me off, back to the drawing board!!

OP posts:
juneau · 23/04/2019 19:14

Yeah, I don't think that works as a name - sorry. People who speak French will know how to pronounce it, but everyone else will say Keel? Seal?

Why don't you call her Skye? Much easier.

Hollowvictory · 23/04/2019 19:12

I've got the handwash. It's from. Lidl

AuntieStella · 23/04/2019 19:11

Your thought pattern is great.

But I don't think the name works, because it's too close a homophone to 'seal'

And because alone it means 'sky'

TitianaTitsling · 23/04/2019 19:10

Skye much nicer- I think it's "Sea-elle" which could be seal-y. And it does make me think of budget skin care or cleaning. Sorry!

happysunr1se · 23/04/2019 19:10

There's an anime character called Ciel Phantomhive, he's a boy.

Aragog · 23/04/2019 19:09

Are you French or have French links?

Some people may not pronounce it correctly.

Is it S-ee-l or S-ee-il or something else?

It's not for me, personally, but I have seen and heard far worse.

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 23/04/2019 19:09

Please don’t Hmm

Singlenotsingle · 23/04/2019 19:09

It's alright if you pronounce it, "see-ell" but not if people pronounce it "Seal". Which they probably would.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2019 19:08

My first thought was Cien, too.

Skye is nicer.
