Twin names Olive and Ivy

Honest thoughts on names Olive and Ivy. Expecting twin girls at the end of June and still debating names. We like Amber and Zara as we feel they are ‘safer’ names but have always loved Olive and Ivy but not sure if too out there.

Love love love olive and ivy! Dd was potentially going to be an ivy (dh vetoed olive) but she ended up with a ‘nature’ name.

Prefer Amber and Zara
Olive and Ivy are frumpy

Use the (IMO) nicer names as first names and the others as middle names

They’re lovely together. Much prefer to Amber. Zara is nice too. Zara and Ivy go well I think. Any combination of those three!

They sound like my grandma's little old lady friends, complete with shopping hats and trolleys.

Amber and Zara are more modern, but 90s names I'd say.

Olive and Ivy sound too matchy to me. Possibly because if said quickly my ear just hears Holly and Ivy.

I think Olive is dreadful: so dowdy and lumpen, and not even a nice sound. Ivy's alright but pretty common round here now.

Amber and Zara are much nicer!

Lovely. Also Edith and Ivy.

They were my nan and her best friend who lived in the same village for 85 years and were a right pair when they got together for a Bailey's Grin

Must admit that I’m biased against Amber though, the class bully was called Amber.
