Name for potential DS

An astronaut named Edwin nickname of Buzz: very cool.

It's the name of the older brother in hom alone that's my first thought then the American astronaut then of course lightyear it's a name I think alot of Little boys would love and find fun possibly not so much when older but if you pair it with a formal middle I don't see how you can go wrong really...

Please don't. It's one of those silly names which everyone thinks would be cute on a toddler, but it's impossible to imagine a 45 year old plumber, bank manager or teacher called Buzz.

I don't like it because I care about the poor sod it is given to having everyone they ever meet asking them what it is short for or a nick name for, or why on earth their parents decided to give it to them.

Also, where I live, it is what we call a bus Wink

It has lovely associations for me as it was the nickname my DBs and I gave our DGF. But saying that using it as an actual name for a child would mean he would no doubt be subject to schooldays filled with bee impressions and being told to buzz off which would be wearing at best. I’d give him the nn buzz for use by family but a real name that is easier to live with.

I actually rather like it but I don’t think I’d be brave enough to use it as it’s a bit out there. It sounds like a genuine name to me because of the Fletchers’ son, but celebs do go a bit crazy with names. Other than that I think of Buzz Aldrin, even though it was just a nickname. You might get some comments but use it if you love it! Whilst it’s quite unique it’s not unheard of

Buzz Aldrin's name wasn't Buzz, it was a nickname. Please don't call your child Buzz. It's not a name.

Buzz is one of Tom fletchers kids names. I think it's a celeb name, otherwise known as a name no one else in their right mind would name kids

Frank skinner called his baby Buzz after Buzz Aldrin. It's a very out-there name and definitely will get a lot of comments, and probably rude ones from some people too.
I thought it was a ridiculous name tbh, but I've listened to Frank mention Buzz so often on his podcast, that it sounds normal to me now.
People would eventually get used to and accept the name, but I think most people would probably think 'wtf?!' when they first hear it.
If you are very bohemian, artsy or famous then I recon it'll be easier to pull off this name.

If I met a child called Buzz I would try to keep an open mind but in all honesty, I’d half expect his parents to be tedious attention-seekers. So my first reaction would probably be to feel sorry for him - not because being called Buzz is inherently so terrible, but because names like that seem intended more as a way to signal the parents’ “creativity” or coolness than anything else.

How about Benedict, Zachariah or Balthazar with Buzz for short.

@HopeMatters I know what you are saying, despite what I said I really can't get on with the name Buddy, which is a name of another son of Tom & Giovanna!

I think you do have to be brave, if you're** not embarrassed, the kids won't be either?
Also just to add, if you go on to have another child, you then can't pair it with a George or John etc and would have to continue the braver choice of name. I guess none of this is helping you op?
