Friend named her girl Scarlett-June

My best friend just named her daughter Scarlett-June. I usually think hyphenated names are tacky (think Lily-May) and I've never ever liked them.
But unlike the other hyphenated tacky names out there, I think Scarlett-June is just gorgeous! It's so picturesque and beautiful. Scarlett is really spunky but then you had the -June on the end and you get a great name (I think).
So, my question (and my friend's) is are ALL hyphenated names tacky? Do you like the name Scarlett-June?
btw my friend asked me to make this thread, she's given the thumbs up, don't worry!

Two lovely names. But not together so much. It takes something away from each of them.

I love June.

Not a fan of the Ellie-May / Ella-Rose type names either. Not necessarily 'tacky' just a bit meh.

I quite like Scarlett with June as a middle name, but the hyphen is totally unnecessary & doesn't add anything IMO

Other than the hyphen of course Grin

Scarlet on it's own is OK ish (apart from Scarlet woman....) but the two together don't work IMO.

I really don't get the point of carefully choosing a name for your child and then calling it something else entirely. SJ is ridiculous!

I don't have an issue with hyphenated names, but Scarlett-June doesn't go at all.

If she likes it I don’t really see why she’s asking.

As a rule I don’t like hyphenated names and I’m afraid I don’t see this name as any exception.

She will go by SJ ok that's lost and completely. If she likes the names so much why choose to ignore them and use initials Confused

Not s fan of double barrelled names full stop.
Tacky isnt the issue, I just dont understand giving 2 names for a first name. It is either a mouthful or one name gets dropped anyway.
Scarlett June as first and middle names works just fine in my view.

Makes me smile - because joon tacked onto the end of a name or title means ‘darling’ or ‘dear’ as a term of endearment.

To those asking, we made the thread to see the general view that people have of hyphenated names. My friend is set on the name Scarlett-June. She will go by SJ. x

One of the few cases where Rose might have been better. Scarlett-Rose sort of makes sense.

I think it totally depends on the name. The Ellie/Lily Mae/Rose thing is just so 'common'.
More unusual less popular names can sound lovely.

I really don't see the point of this thread... Your friend has already named her child so why does she care what random people think now? 😕

I can't bring myself to be a judgemental arse about kids names and lazily lumping all names (except your friends "picturesque and beautiful" name of course) that aren't to my liking as "tacky'. That behaviour is far "tackier" than any name could ever be.

Since you ask though, no I really don't think I like those names together. I know quite a few Scarlett's which is fine on its own although I always think of the fever.

I don't think Scarlett and June go together that well. I am trying to imagine calling someone that name in a work environment and it just sounds wrong.

I just don't see the point in double barrelled names I've only ever met 3 children who use the full name and all 3 had very overbearing parents who would explode in anger if the name was shortened.

Everyone else just uses the first part of the name, so the hyphenated part would make just as much sense as a middle name.

Too much of mouthful for me - people will end up just saying Scarlett, so I’d scarlett first name and June middle name.
Btw both names lovely- just the double barrelled not to my liking

Im going against the grain here I think scarlett-june is adorable, however she is likely to be called scar as she gets older.

I don't mind the traditional, classic hyphenated names like Anne-Marie or Mary-Ann, dated though they are, but I really don't like the modern trend of hyphenating names to be 'yooneek'.
