Friend named her girl Scarlett-June

My best friend just named her daughter Scarlett-June. I usually think hyphenated names are tacky (think Lily-May) and I've never ever liked them.
But unlike the other hyphenated tacky names out there, I think Scarlett-June is just gorgeous! It's so picturesque and beautiful. Scarlett is really spunky but then you had the -June on the end and you get a great name (I think).
So, my question (and my friend's) is are ALL hyphenated names tacky? Do you like the name Scarlett-June?
btw my friend asked me to make this thread, she's given the thumbs up, don't worry!

@Bloomburger you wouldn't associate with a family over a name? Im sure they wouldnt want to associate with you either if your that much of a snob Grin

A lot of people dislike double barrelled names, which is fair enough I don't like every name I hear at soft play! My DD is called Macey-Jane (name changed to post) and iv never heard it before DD, people ask me her name and when I tell them they always say its such a lovely name.

I think names such as Ava-Mae / Ella-Mae became 'tacky' because every woman and her friend started using those names once they started coming out, and everyone always used Mae as the 'second' name.

I love my daughters name and think it really suits her and at least I know she wont be 'Emma T' at school 😁 I think you should name your child what your happy with.

I detest the name Scarlett but I think June is rather sweet but it’s a bit much together

I think it's fairer to the child to leave the hyphen out. Give her the two names, and when she's older she can decide for herself if she wants to go by both, or just one.

I really don’t see the point in asking about this when she’s already named the baby and is set on the name.

Even if it’s not to everyone’s taste there’s nothing wrong with it, or with hyphenating names.

It’s one thing to say you don’t like a name. It’s another to say that anyone that calls their child a double-barrelled name is a twat. It’s just unnecessarily nasty.

No i don't think hyphenated names are tacky.

Tacky is publicly slagging off other people's choices or actions.

We all have different tastes thank goodness. Adds to the variety of life. I may not always be keen on another persons choice of name but would never dream if saying so.

I would go for Scarlett June without the hyphen and probably just call her Scarlett.

I like the name Scarlett, but not so keen on June. Is June in honour of a family member? Is that why it is being considered?

Tacky, sorry!whenever I hear someone shouting out a double barrelled name I just think 'twat'. Nobody needs two first names! And all her friends will call her Scarlett.

SJ does not even sound nice very harsh, the only initial name that works is JR and your surname has to be Ewing or Hartley.

Scarlett is quite a nice name, it’s just a bit overdone here unfortunately.

I know a child called Phoebe Grace, not hyphenated, just FN-MN, but her mother insists on calling out her whole name when calling her over and it kind of rubs my teeth a bit! 😂 That said, I actually have nothing against hyphenated names in general, per se. Shame so many are just two pretty boring names shoved together IMO!!! 😂😂

I love the name Scarlett but not June, but I can see why they would choose it if it has a sentimental reason behind it.

I don’t know that I would want to give my opinion of a name specific to a newborn & with a Mum who’s just given birth likely to read.

Doesn't sounds great to me, but I do like the name Scarlett.

Anyway though if the mum likes it then surely that's all that matters not the MN jury?
