Alternatives to Theodore

We're expecting baby number 2 in the autumn and we're not finding out the sex. We have a girls name picked out but I am really struggling with boys names! My DH likes Theodore, but I just don't... love it. It's not wowing me. And I cant seem to find an alternative. I want something classic, not bothered about naming trends or anything.
We have an Alexander already, and the following names have all been taken by close friends or family:

Oliver
Joshua
Hayden
Harry

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Isn't Ed or Eddie the natural shortening for Edward?

Ted is also very common and very traditional as a shortening for Edward/Edmund.

Theodore is lovely but I think Ted or Ned as a nickname for Edward is also adorable

I had my second son last year and wanted to call him Alexander, such a lovely name. DH vetoed it though as it’s his cousins name, so we now have a Daniel Theodore.

I also liked Benjamin, Nicholas, Ralph, Eric and Samuel.

Thelonious or Thaddeus are great alterntives to Theodore.

Thelonious means: "Ruler of the people"

Thaddeus means: "Courageous heart"

I have a Theodore (Theo) already and I'm expecting number 2.

We're considering Frederick, Nathanial, Joseph, Bennedict and Henry for this one!
